BAFTA’s Memorable TV Moment Award nominations: From Paddington’s afternoon tea with the late Queen to the Derry Girls finale and THAT kiss in Heartstopper
The BAFTA TV Memorable Moment Award nominations are out.
From Derry Girls’ emotional finale to Nick and Charlie’s kiss in Heartstopper and BBC’s The Real Mo Farah documentary, nothing has been left out.
Also making the cut is the iconic afternoon tea between Paddington and the late Queen and Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill in Stranger Things.
The Traitors’ final roundtable is up for the gong too.
So, ahead of next month’s ceremony at Royal Festival Hall, MailOnline takes a deep dive into each moment.

Paddington Meets The Queen
Paddington and the late Queen bonded over their love of marmalade sandwiches ahead of the star-studded Platinum Jubilee concert.
The Queen had delighted millions of viewers after appearing in the comic sketch with the bear that no one could have foreseen to kick-start the Party in The Palace Jubilee Concert on Saturday June 4 2022.
The much loved British institutions tapped out the beat of Queen’s We Will Rock You anthem together on china teacups using silver spoons as a unique way of getting the celebrations under way.
The sketch, which the Queen spent half a day filming, was hailed by Britons as better than her Olympic opening show cameo with James Bond.
Accident-prone Paddington was shown causing mayhem by accidentally depriving the understanding sovereign of another cup of tea and spraying cream from a chocolate eclair over a Palace Footman.
During an adorable moment, the Queen revealed she shares Paddington’s love of marmalade sandwiches and keeps an emergency stash in her trademark handbag.
Heartstopper – Nick and Charlie’s First Kiss
The LGBTQ+ series, based off Alice Oseman’s graphic novels, sees Joe Locke play schoolboy Charlie, who falls in love his classmate Nick Nelson (Kit Connor), forcing them to navigate a journey of self-discovery and acceptance.
With writer Alice also being nominated in the Writer: Drama category, Joe and Kit’s first kiss is up for memorable moment.
Derry Girls – The Finale
The Good Friday Agreement referendum was the main topic of discussion in the Derry Girls’ last episode.
Composed of two accords signed in April 1998, it put an end to the majority of the bloodshed of The Troubles, a political war in Northern Ireland that started in the late 1960s, was a significant breakthrough in the peace process there.
The sitcom has already been nominated in two categories, written comedy and female performance in a comedy series for Siobhan McSweeney.

Stranger Things – Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill
Kate Bush’s eerie song Running Up That Hill is up, after an iconic scene in which Lucas, Dustin, and Steve rush to save Max from Vecna.
The performer won her number one place in the rankings 40 years after the song’s premiere when a brand-new generation heard her music for the first time.
Stranger Things missed out on a nomination for an international award, which pits Wednesday and Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story against The White Lotus and Pachinko.
The Traitors – Final Roundtable
There are also nominations for the Traitors finale, in which Faithfuls Aaron Evans, Meryl Williams, and Hannah Byczkowski won the £101,050 prize money when Wilfred Webster was exposed for his act.
Co-Traitor Kieran Tompsett gave his co-stars a ‘parting gift’ during the last roundtable, displaying serious Shakespearean levels of psychodrama and backstabbing.
Following her win, Meryl revealed that she hopes to follow in host Claudia Winkleman’s footsteps and become a presenter, while both Hannah and Aaron are heading in a new career direction after quitting their jobs.
The Real Mo Farah
The last entry on the nominees list is Sir Mo’s film The Real Mo Farah, in which he discusses how he was forcibly brought to the UK.
The four-time Olympic gold medalist revealed how he was fooled into believing he was going to live with family by being smuggled into the nation under another child’s identity.
The 39-year-old athlete, who was given the name Hussein Abdi Kahin, declared, “The truth is, I’m not who you think I am.”
Then he continues, When I was four my dad was killed in the civil war, as a family we were torn apart. I was separated from my mother, and I was brought into the UK illegally under the name of another child called Mohamed Farah.’
Sir Mo’s PE teacher, Alan Watkinson, submitted an application for his British citizenship, which he acquired on July 25, 2000, when he was 17 years old.
He later became the first track and field athlete from the United Kingdom to win four Olympic gold medals.
