Mendy, 28, is accused of trying to rape her after she had a shower, tugging at her towel and telling her he wanted to see her naked – after she visited to meet another footballer in his entourage. The £52million France player denies eight rape charges against five girls, one just 17, one attempted rape charge and one sexual assault charge.
Yesterday the jury at Chester Crown Court heard one victim who met the star in a nightclub told a friend via Snapchat that Mendy had a “predatory look”.
The woman, described by prosecutor Timothy Cray QC as “the opposite of a football groupie”, told police she was introduced to French footballer Diacko Fofana, 28, and Mendy by a club promoter offering them VIP treatment.
She said: “We don’t want to hang around in queues so we took advantage.”
The next year, in October 2018, she agreed to meet Fofana at Mendy’s mansion in Mottram St Andrew, near Macclesfield in Cheshire.
But first, they went out in Manchester where they had drinking games before going back to Mendy’s home.
She said during the night out Mendy told her: “When he (Fofana) is not looking, I am going to kidnap you.”
The woman told the court the alleged attempted rape happened the next morning at the house after she spent the night with Fofana. The woman described how she took a shower and, wary of Mendy, left the door ajar so she could hear if he came into the room.
She then claimed she spotted him enter. She explained: “I was just in shock and wanted to reach for a towel. He had his top off. He was touching himself and he was reaching for the towel.
“I went to get my underwear but he was stopping me. He grabbed me by the waist and we fell on the bed. He slid his boxers down. I kept pushing him away to the point where he kept grabbing me back. I tried to struggle out of it.”
Cross-examined by Eleanor Laws QC, defending Mendy, she denied she had kissed him on the bed. Mendy was in the dock with co-accused Louis Saha Matturie, 41, who denies eight rapes and four sexual assaults against eight young women. The trial continues.
