Billie Shepherd’s daughter Nelly named her little sister in touching tribute

Billie and Greg Shepherd welcomed their third child, a baby girl called Margot back in December.

Their bundle of joy has been a lovely addition to the family and siblings Nelly, eight, and four year old Arthur have been helping the couple with the newborn.

In fact Nelly even assisted her mum with the name of their little one Billie told OK!

The Family Diaries star said: “When I was pregnant, Nelly was the one who suggested it. She said, ‘Mummy, if we have a girl, shall we call her Margot?’ And then it just stuck."

It also has a special meaning for the family as Billie explained.

"My Great Nan was called Margot and Suzanne is her middle name after my mum," she said.

The couple have been adapting to life as a family of five and Arthur in particular has struggled with the big change.

“As much as it’s been amazing, we’ve had lots of moments as well – tears, tantrums and it is a big thing adjusting any new baby into a family,” she said candidly.

“With Arthur being the youngest we always kind of expected it a little bit. He’s being a bit smothering and it’s all for my attention. I’ll be pottering around and he’ll be over her and breathing on her and looking at me out of the corner of his eye. It doesn’t matter if it’s positive or negative attention as long as he’s got my attention."

But Nelly and Arthur have been getting involved and helping their mum, by holding their baby sister when they get home from school.

“Arthur, bless him, he’s really good at helping out,” she said. “Whereas Nelly can be a bit like, ‘Oh, am I a slave now?’ But then Nelly’s really good with Margot and can hold her and walk about with her now.”

Billie welcomed baby Margot following a three-day labour and had to be induced, because her contractions struggled to come on. After the dramatic birth, the couple and her mum Suzie were all crying tears of joy when their bundle of joy arrived.

“It’s just amazing,” Billie said. “It’s the most amazing feeling in the world, when you hear your baby crying and they put them on you. I was like, ‘What is it? What is it?’ to Greg and he was like, ‘It’s a girl!’. It was the most amazing moment and we captured it all ourselves and it’s all on the show. It’s very raw.”
