Brooke Vincent lands new job as she steps in for fellow soap star’s maternity leave
Brooke Vincent has landed a new job, revealing that she will be stepping in for Gemma Atkinson on Hits Radio while the former Hollyoaks actress is away on maternity leave.
The ex-Coronation Street star, 30 shared the exciting news on Instagram as she posted a snap of herself in the radio studio.
She penned the caption: "The News It Out!!! I am absolutely over the moon to be covering Gemma on her maternity leave & keeping old Toolan @miketoolan in check on @hitsradiouk!
"You can tune in from Monday 5th June to hear my little dulcet tones!!! From 4pm-7pm on your drive time home [car emoji]]
"@glouiseatkinson Keep your phone on loud! I may need your help [laughing emoji] [hear emoji]," Brooke added.
Commenting on the post, soon-to-be mum-of-two, Gemma, 38, wrote: "You’ll smash it!!! Good luck (with Tools obv) [crying with laughter emoji]."
Brooke opened up about her new role to the Manchester Evening News, revealing that she was “very nervous” but also excited to be joining the radio show.
She told the outlet: "I literally said to Gemma, ‘What am I going to do? I’m really nervous. I’ll be texting her saying, ‘Gemma, can you tell me what I need to do now please?’
"But it’s really exciting and the drive team are amazing and Hits Radio is on the up at the minute which is really nice. So it’s nice to join a big group of people that are just absolutely smashing it."
It comes after Brooke candidly discussed motherhood, describing it as the hardest thing she's ever done, and sharing that she is not afraid to apologise to her sons when she gets things wrong.
Speaking to Scott Thomas on his Learning As I Go podcast she said: "I don't worry about saying sorry, I say, 'Listen, mummy got that wrong and I'm sorry for shouting because I didn't realise that this happened,' because the last thing I want is them to think adults are always right and children are wrong.
"There have been times where I've been wrong and I don't want them to grow up thinking they can't be wrong and they can't be sorry because it makes them weak because it doesn't. I don't want them to be scared to tell me the truth."
Brooke went on to admit: "But I do fly off the handle at absolutely everything, I've got no patience and life is chaotic."
