Charlotte Dawson was rushed to hospital after a scooter accident in Rome as she shared some shocking snaps of her swollen, bloodied and bruised face to Instagram.

The 29 year old daughter of late comedian Les Dawson looked like she was in serious pain as she posted a selfie from the back of an ambulance on her way to hospital with a bloodied nose and lip, with gauze wrapped around her head.

Blood was clearly visible on her dress and she held what appeared to be an ice pack to her cheek as she looked glumly into the camera.

The next shot showed her in a hospital bed with blue hospital material and more blood-soaked gauze near to her head, as well as a bandage on her chin,

The mother-of-one wrote alongside the snaps: "When in Rome.. I fell off a scooter today travelling around..

"I lost control of it, got scared went into the curb & fell over the handle bars.. I’m ok, I’ve been very lucky and can thankfully go home to my boy.. with lots of stitches bruises & a leg I can’t walk on properly..

"It could of been a lot different..but wow it’s been a scary horrible day for me, Matthew & my friends.. but Thankgod someone was looking down on me "

People rushed to the comments section to wish her well in her recovery, and motorcycle racer Carl Fogarty's daughter Danielle wrote: "Hope your ok lovely".

Former Love Island star Rosie Williams commented: "Oh Charlotte!!! Hope you get better soon babes xxx", whilst another former Love Islander Hayley Hughes wrote: "omg nooo!! hope you’re okay".

Just one day before her scooter accident, Charlotte looked incredible at the wedding of her friends that took place in Rome, and the media personality dazzled as she rocked a gold strapless dress that featured embroidery and plenty of tulle.

She wore her caramel-coloured locks in voluminous curls that hung to her waist, and on her head was an elaborate fascinator that matched her dress perfectly.

Charlotte posed alongside her fiancé – and father of her son, Noah – Matt Sarsfield, who looked very dapper in a crushed velvet tuxedo.

Alongside the snaps of the pair, Charlotte wrote: "Wowza… what a day!!! @lauren_portia congratuchuffinlations to the Rimmers my girl is officially a WIFEY fo lifey".

Earlier in the week, Charlotte showed off her recent 3st weight loss as she stood in an Italian street wearing nothing but a gold swimsuit and heels as she put one hand on her hip and flashed the 'peace' sign with the other.

She wrote on Instagram: "It says everything about my confidence now that I would even think of looking like this in public!! Since shifting the extra timber my self esteem is just on another level."
