Cheryl signed ‘six-figure deal’ for West End debut taking over from Laura Whitmore
Cheryl is set to make up to a whopping £750,000 over just four months during her West End debut, it’s been reported.
The Girls Aloud star, 39, is swapping her music background for a hand in acting, as she plays lead role Jenny in the play 2:22 A Ghost Story from January to April next year.
Cheryl is claimed to be receiving one of the biggest fees offered in West End history, after taking over the role from former Love Island host Laura Whitmore, who featured opposite Matt Willis in September.
A source told The Sun: “The producers know this will get everyone talking, but it will ruffle feathers.”
OK! has contacted Cheryl’s representatives for comment.
This report comes after it was speculated by The Sun last week that Cheryl would be earning at least £100,000 for her West End stint.
An insider booker had revealed to the publication: “Cheryl is getting around £1,000 a show.
“The deal is £100,000 but will also be linked to ticket sales so if she helps shift around 80% of seats then she'll be entitled to more money on top of that.”
Cheryl announced her West End debut earlier this month in a post on Instagram.
She spoke of her excitement at stepping into the role, as she wrote: “Hey!!!…I am SO excited to be starring in the west end thriller @222aghoststory!!
"I will be playing the role of Jenny from January – April! I went to see the show with a previous cast and LOVED IT!
"It is a totally new and exciting experience for me so if you’re looking for a fun night out & some entertainment in your new year tickets are available now…whenever you’re ready #222aghoststory”.
Cheryl’s new turn as a West End star certainly left fans surprised, as well as delighted, in their reactions in the comment section.
The character of Jenny was first taken on by Lily Allen when 2:22 A Ghost Story debuted in the summer of 2021, as the singer starred alongside EastEnders actor Jake Wood, and the story follows a woman who believes she is haunted.
Former I’m A Celebrity winner Giovanna Fletcher, who is married to McFly’s Tomalso starred as the character.
Cheryl will be acting opposite Hugo Chegwin (People Just Do Nothing ), Scott Karim (The Invisible Hand) and Louise Ford, as 2:22 A Ghost Story plays at the Lyric Theatre in London.
