Chris Hughes breaks silence following split from girlfriend Annabel Dimmock
Chris Hughes has addressed his split from Annabel Dimmock, admitting that he’s “struggling a bit”.
News broke last week that the pair had gone their separate ways following weeks of speculation.
Confirming that Chris, 29, and Annabel, 25, were no longer an item, the golfer’s presentative said: “I can confirm they have split and Annabel wishes Chris all the best."
The former flames had long put on a loved-up display on social media, but had been quiet of late – sparking people to wonder if they’d split.
One follower asked his now-ex: “Have you and @chrishughesofficial split? You don’t talk about each other or tag each other anymore??”#
Another said: “Are they not together anymore [crying face] loved them as a couple.” A third commented: “You not with Chris Hughes anymore??”
The last photos Chris shared of them together appeared to be in February, where the Love Island star gushed over “magical” trips with his then-girlfriend Annabel.
Meanwhile, Annabel shared a snap of their together in May as they enjoyed some time at “home” together.
Now addressing his break-up for the first time, Chris said that while he’s “in a good place”, he “always struggles a bit” after coming out of a relationship.
He told The Sun: “I'm in a good place. I always struggle a bit when it's fresh out of a relationship because everything feels different.
"But I'm in the gym, I'm keeping myself busy with work.
"I'm all over the shop. I've got good friends and family around me which is a blessing as well, so I feel good."
Prior their split, the 29 year old had spoken of wanting to marry Annabel.
Chris told OK! last year: "It's effortless to love someone like Annabel. She's great. I'm quite an old-fashioned romantic and I want a fairytale. She's cool and one day we'll have a family and get married."
Annabel confirmed Chris' vision for the future saying they "100 per cent want the same," while adding she's "never met anyone like [Chris]".
Chris’ split from Annabel comes after the end of his relationship with former Little Mix member Jesy Nelson.
They split in late 2020, with Chris describing the breakdown of their relationship as a “s**tstorm”.
Speaking about the difficulty of going through a breakup in lockdown, Chris told The Sun at the time: “It was a tough period in a lot of people’s personal lives and it was for me too, as break-ups are never easy.
“It was difficult. Sometimes you just grow apart. There have definitely been days when I wake up and things haven’t felt great.
"The period 12 months ago was really tough. There were days where I was waking up and our split was the first thing I was thinking about.”
