Coleen Rooney ‘delighted’ with Wagatha drama because ‘people will understand her’
Coleen Rooney is “delighted” people will finally discover what happened in court in her legal battle with Rebekah Vardy thanks to a highly anticipated TV drama based on their infamous feud.
Sources close to Coleen have exclusively told us that she views the upcoming show, entitled Vardy V Rooney: A Courtroom Drama, as a chance to show the public “her reasons for doing what she did”.
“Coleen is actually really happy about the Channel 4 drama and is more than happy for it be shown,” our source said.
“They are going off the transcripts and what actually happened in court, so she is delighted that everyone will see all of the details and how it went down, because she came out on top.”
In July, Coleen, 36, won a libel battle against Becky, 40, after her social media post was found to be “substantially true”.
In 2019, the mum-of-four took to Instagram to accuse the fellow WAG’s Instagram account of leaking “false stories” about
her private life to the media – something Becky strongly denied.
It was later claimed in court Rebekah had used the anniversary of Coleen’s sister’s death as an excuse to get back in touch with her former friend.
The two-part film, due to be aired this month, will recreate “the high drama, high stakes High Court defamation case” based on court transcripts and will also imagine the “huge impact on the lives of the two women as its heart”.
Actress Chanel Cresswell plays Coleen, while Natalia Tena stars as Rebekah.
“There are details that some people may have forgotten, like how Rebekah used Coleen’s Instagram tribute to her late sister Rosie as an excuse to get back in touch with her,” our source continued.
“Since the case, Rebekah has spoken out and said she was framed, so Coleen is happy for people to see what happened in court. Coleen hopes people will understand her reasons for doing what she did.
“She is a little bit worried about how she might be portrayed by the actor, but on the whole she is happy about it. She will probably be tuning in.”
