Corrie’s Alexandra Mardell’s wedding details – soap pals, power cut and surprise outfit swap
Coronation Street star Alexandra Mardell tied the knot to her actor husband Joe Parker on Sunday 19 March at The Tithe Barn in Bolton Abbey, Skipton, North Yorkshire, in front of 90 guests.
The bride, who looked beautiful in a lace dress, which she bought from a small bridal shop in Blackpool, had five bridesmaids and one bridesman, who all wore a mixture of sage green and burnt orange. They consisted of three of her childhood friends and three others from drama school.
Alexandra, 29, was also joined by her former Corrie co-stars Sair Khan and Charlotte Jordan, who play Alya and Daisy on the ITV soap.
“We still meet up regularly for dinners and cocktails. They were really happy to be part of the day,” the actress, who played barmaid Emma Brooker for four years, said.
Her friend Maddy Smedley, who appeared on BBC show The Traitors, was also on the guestlist.
Sharing their special day exclusively with OK!, Alexandra told us: "It was gorgeous – the scenery was stunning."
And while it was a picture-perfect occasion, there were a few slight mishaps along the way!
The couple stayed in separate nearby hotels on the eve of the ceremony. Joe admitted he didn't feel any nerves, but explained: "The only thing that worried me was the fact that where I was staying had a power cut. I woke up in the morning and was going to go down for breakfast, and then all the lights went off!
"My first thought was, ‘I just hope the venue isn’t down as well!’ One of my groomsmen got us all some bacon sandwiches.”
Alexandra laughed: “A wedding breakfast from Greggs – how Northern of him!”
She also revealed that she was half an hour behind schedule, but it was all worth it when Joe saw her for the first time.
“I turned around and as soon as I saw her I just cried straight away," he told us.
The couple, who got engaged in April 2021, chose Smooth by Carlos Santana for their first dance, with Alexandra changing into a jumpsuit from Nadine Merabi, which was a “surprise” for Joe.
“I had an outfit change so I could dance more. It was nice to get out of the dress eventually because it was quite hard to manoeuvre,” she said.
The party continued until 1am, with Alexandra and Joe heading straight to bed after “boogying until the very end”.
Alexandra and Joe first met while they were drama students, but they became romantically involved in 2017. They admit that they always knew they would one day get married.
Joe popped the question in April 2021, and Alexandra took to social media to share the happy news.
"Love locked down!! 1000000 times yes!" she wrote. "You make me so happy, my face hurts! Love you ridiculously. Future Mrs Parker."
