Danity Kane’s Aubrey O’Day Defends Herself for Faking Instagram Posts: ‘I’m Making Art’
After sending social media into frenzy for allegedly Photoshopping herself into all her luxurious vacation pictures on her Instagram account, the 38-year-old singer has now set the records straight.
AceShowbiz –Aubrey O’Day is sharing her side of the story. After sending social media into frenzy for allegedly Photoshopping herself into all her luxurious vacation pictures on her Instagram account, the Danity Kane singer has now addressed the matter.
While stopping by Tamron Hall‘s talk show on Tuesday, November 29, Aubrey cleared up the rumors that she Photoshopped her Instagram pictures. “I am at all of these locations. I look at my Instagram as I’m an artist,” she explained.
She went on to explain, “I look at my life and pictures as like art that I want to create for the world. You don’t see me on there with my regular friends, my dogs and my home. I don’t belong to the people. I don’t belong to others. My personal life is mine. And that’s the only way that I haven’t gone off the deep end or turned into something that I’m not.”
The 38-year-old blonde beauty later insisted that she’s “making art.” She further shared that she did go to the locations where the photos were taken. “I’ve been to all these places and after these photos, I do post the videos of how it looked. But in order to get to this place, you have to scale a mountain for about two hours. I don’t have a caboodle of makeup and my wigs,” she said.
Elsewhere in the episode, Aubrey got candid about her prescription pill addiction. “My entire time in Bali, just to be completely honest, was about getting off of prescription medications that were given to me at 17 years old because this industry promoted me to be my most aspirational self,” she told the host.
“When I wasn’t able to be that, doctors were giving me medications and telling me, ‘Take this and take this and then you’ll be aspirational.’ I was taking about, if I’m going to be completely honest, 16 pills a day,” she shared. When asked if she was able to beat the addiction, Aubrey responded, “I was able to let go of the chip on my shoulder that was making it impossible for me to be happy in this world, living.”
Upon watching Aubrey’s interviews, fans had mixed reactions to her remarks. Some refused to buy her words with one saying, “Girl just say you’re lying and be done.” Another person wrote, “The pictures are fake and she expects us to believe the videos are real.”
Some people, however, understood Aubrey’s point and jumped into her defense. “It makes sense. And if social media is your job, ion see nothing wrong with it. Your job is to entertain and attract views,” one fan said. Similarly, one other added, “She makes a great point. And 95% of the s**t you see on social media is CAP.”
“But here’s the difference between living a false life wat ppl fail to understand she actually there at the location in real time she just photo shops her picture into the scenes bc to her she’s not presentable enough to take a picture when it’s happening she’s not glammed up so where’s the lie? A lie is if I photoshop myself in Hawaii but I was never actually there … she really in Bali,” another supporter stressed.
