Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter distraught as pets die in house fire
Dog the Bounty Hunter breaks down at wife Beth’s funeral
Bonnie Jo Chapman, 24, received what she initially believed to be a wrong-number call on Tuesday claiming that her Virginia rental home that she shares with her boyfriend Ismael was burning to the ground.
The daughter of reality TV icon Dog the Bounty Hunter, whose real name is Duane Chapman, raced home regardless and told TMZ that as she arrived on the scene she received heartbreaking news.
A tearful Bonnie told TMZ in a candid clip: “The fire chief had initially told me that they had found two cats and that they were looking for any other animals. As they continued their search…they did indeed find all my animals.”
Audibly choked with emotion she shared: “They were all without injury but they had passed due to smoke inhalation.”
Bonnie’s dog, gecko, snake and three cats all died in the unexpected tragedy and she plans to commission cremation rings or portraits of her animals so that they will be “remembered” and “honoured”.
While she was still dealing with the heartbreak of losing all of her pets, Bonnie had a string of other major concerns on her mind as she watched her home engulfed in flames, the first of which was trying to recover the belongings, photos and ashes she had of her late mother Beth Chapman who died in 2019.
Bonnie revealed she had lost some of the photos and belongings of her mother “but I was able to salvage the ashes. That was one of my main worries”.
The former reality star also lost “a big chunk” of her own belongings to the flames, not to mention her home.
The 24-year-old was seemingly still in shock at the situation as she let out a little deflated chuckle saying: “They’re destroyed or they’re engulfed in smoke.”
She added that her oldest cat, Plum, had been “my mother’s favourite” and emotionally declared: “I hope that my mom is really happy to have plum with her.

“I hope that my mom finds comfort with my animals, that’s all I can hope for.”
On Friday morning, Bonnie expressed her insurmountable gratitude to the Augusta County Fire Department on her Instagram for their efforts in trying to rescue, and even resuscitate, her animals and put out the blaze.
She said the fire department determined that the fire was caused “by an electrical issue” and shared a personalised obituary for each of her beloved animals.
She wrote: “Merlyn helped me realise there’s still hope in life even when you may lose a limb.
“Plum taught met that every human deserves love.
“Sophie taught me that even in old age, there’s still so much to look forward to and that old dogs can learn new tricks.
“Azriel taught me how determination can help you achieve anything.
“Nyssa taught me that no matter how small you are, life is worth getting excited about and Stokley taught me that life is too short to stress out.
She concluded: “I would have given my life for any of them. They were my reason to live in my darkest moments. Each and every one of them will be remembered.
“Until we meet again, my babies, I miss you all with every fiber of my being. Thank you for the memories and love. Rest in peace.”
The aspiring makeup artist told ET Online on Thursday that she hopes her sudden tragedy will “remind everyone that life is fragile”, adding: “Make the most of the time you have with your furry family members by giving them your full attention, playing with them, and telling them you love them as often as possible.”
