John Fashanu has been hit by claims from his daughter Amal that he signed up for the show behind her back to cut her out of the deal.

The Dancing On Ice star, 60, who had employed Amal as his agent, is competing on the ITV skating programme with his pro partner Alexandra Schauman.

However his daughter has now claimed that she didn’t know about his place on the show until months after he signed up, which came as a surprise to her as his agent.

Speaking out: John Fashanu has been hit by claims from his daughter Amal that he signed up for the show behind her back to cut her out of the deal

Amal, who says she hasn’t spoken to her father in five months, told of their bitter feud in a new interview, telling the Sun on Sunday: ‘Dad’s a joke. He went behind my back.

She confessed: ‘I want nothing more to do with him right now. We’ve not talked for five months. That’s not how you act with family. He doesn’t think about how he hurts people. As he gets older, it’s got worse too. I do love him but I don’t know that he loves me.’

Amal claims that she only discovered that the former England striker would be competing when she was called by someone from the show asking to film her showing her support.

She said: ‘I got a call from a woman at ITV saying, ‘Hi there Amal. We’re here with your dad on the ice and training for Dancing On Ice’.

‘As well as his daughter I was also his agent, yet he’d kept everything a secret and cut me out completely. I couldn’t speak. I was just so surprised. I could hear my dad in the background saying, ‘Hello darling!’.

She added that it was at this point she also realised she must no longer be her dad’s agent.

Amal said that her father called her later that night to confirm the news, however Amal admitted she was in no mood to talk and hung up after saying ‘congratulations’.

She also claimed that her father attempted to cut her percentage when he gained a place on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins in 2020.

Amal, who has been left feeling ‘used’, said that she found out her dad had insisted she ‘didn’t need five per cent of his fee because she was his daughter’.

She was reportedly told the news by someone who was ‘disgusted’ by his request.

Amal is the founder of The Justin Fashanu Foundation, set up in memory of her late uncle who took his own life in 1998.

The charity aims to raise awareness and fight against prejudice in professional sport after Justin became the first openly gay professional footballer.

John split from Amal’s mother when she was three-years-old over cheating allegations. The former pro footballer has two sons and a daughter with his second wife.

He later married for a third time but it ended in 2015 over more infidelity claims. John now lives in Nigeria with his new partner and two children.

MailOnline have contacted John’s representatives for comment.
