Drake Raises Eyebrows After Calling 2020 ‘Hardest Year in Human History’ Due to COVID Pandemic

When making an appearance in the new Amazon Prime Video documentary ‘Untrapped’, the ‘Honestly, Nevermind’ artist talks about how rappers were unable to ‘connect’ with their fans as COVID shut everything down.

AceShowbiz –Drake apparently is not a fan of staying home. The “Honestly, Nevermind” artist has labeled 2020 “the hardest year in human history” due to the COVID pandemic and his comment has raised people’s eyebrows.

On Thursday, September 1, a brief clip from the Prime Video documentary, “Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby“, was released on social media. The video featured Drizzy talking about Lil Baby‘s meteoric rise to rap stardom even through the pandemic. However, people are more interested in the Canadian rapper’s claim that 2020 was the toughest time for people to get through in human history.

“The hardest year maybe in human history that we have ever been through?” Drake bizarrely said. “Forget music, just as a people, like, the hardest time to ever connect with people, relate to people was clearly…,” he added before the video cuts off.

Drake’s remarks left some of his fans confused and they went on Twitter to give their opinion. Some folks disagreed with Drizzy and offered that slavery was the hardest year ever in human history. Other people opined that it couldn’t be the hardest year ever for music because Drake and other rappers were going platinum during the pandemic.

“Drake said the pandemic was the hardest year in human history. Sir, our ancestors drowned themselves to avoid being taken as slaves,” tweeted one person. Someone else opined, “In the Lil Baby Documentary, Drake said lock down was one of the hardest times for the human race. Please keep in mind this man is a BLACK JEW and he is saying LOCKDOWN was the hardest time for humans…not the holocaust, not even slavery, lock down.”

A third added, “Drake said in human history and 35 lol sir that one pandemic year couldn’t have been worse than slavery or the holocaust. The privilege.” A separate person wondered, “Why would drake get on this documentary and say CORONAVIRUS was the hardest year in human history.” Another added, “So Drake just said the pandemic is hardest thing we faced in human history. Bro wtf, so Drake forgot about slavery. He gotta white momma so that’s what I expect.”

“Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby” is slated to hit Amazon Prime on August 26. The documentary is produced by a combination of Quality Films, MGX Creative and 4PF. It chronicles Lil Baby’s incredible rise through the ranks in hip-hop all the way up to when he dropped his No. 1 album, “My Turn”, in 2020.

Drake had a substantial part in helping Lil Baby get his start. The “One Dance” hitmaker notably hopped on Lil Baby’s 2018 track “Yes Indeed” and has been a reliable collaborator with the Atlanta rhymer ever since. The pair most recently teamed up on DJ Khaled‘s latest single “Staying Alive”, which appeared on his 13th studio album “GOD DID”.
