Eamonn Holmes credits S Club 7 star for helping him amid surgery and chronic pain battle
Eamonn Holmes has praised an S Club 7 star for helping him amid his ongoing health issues.
The former This Morning presenter, 63, who recently claimed a former co-star is "dead to me", has been suffering with chronic pain for a while now, and recently returned to his job at GB News after four months off.
On his return to work, Eamonn explained that he had been suffering with disc problems in his back for over a year and a half, caused by a dislocated pelvis in 2021.
He underwent surgery on his back in September 2022, in the hope it would aid his recovery.
And he has credited none other than S Club 7 star Jo O'Meara with help getting back on his feet, after she shared details of the surgeon who operated on him.
After sharing posts about his pain battles, Jo reached out to him after experiencing similar issues with her back.
The singer, 43, has herself underwent four painful surgeries on her back, and recommended her surgeon to him.
Speaking to MailOnline, Eamonn revealed the impact of their interaction.
"She got in touch to say she had the same disc problems I did and had just had surgery with a German surgeon.
"I asked if she could pass on his details, because by now I was desperate."
After exchanging details, Eamonn had an operation in late September last year.
"It went well – the doctor tidied things up, and generally the pain has gone, which is brilliant," he explained.
"The flip side is that it has now left me with an issue in my left leg, which would collapse unexpectedly."
The issues with his leg have resulted in him using a cane to aid his walking, and also led to an awful fall down a spiral staircase, leaving him with a broken shoulder.
When making his reappearance on air, his co host, Isabel Webster, remarked that Eamonn's back surgery in September 2022 had actually done more harm than good, instead setting him back.
Eamonn explained that he hoped by returning to work and his "old routine", that it might "heal" him and help him on a much more speedy path to a full recovery.
Eamonn's wife, Loose Women's Ruth Langsford, 62, had previously spoken out about how “difficult” the past few months had been for the pair as Eamonn recovered from his operation, and that while she'd miss him, she was proud of his decision to return to work.
