EastEnders fans stunned at new character Reiss Colwell’s hunky off-screen look
EastEnders fans have shared their surprise after seeing what actor Jonny Freeman looks like when he's not playing newcomer Reiss Colwell in the BBC One soap.
Jonny joined the cast of EastEnders at the end of 2022 as Reiss, who is the great-nephew of the late Dot Branning (June Brown). He arrived in Walford following Dot's funeral, and struck up a friendship with Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) which has since turned romantic.
Away from Albert Square, Jonny is unrecognisable with Reiss' signature thick rimmed glasses and unruly beard nowhere to be seen, with the actor's headshot recently being unearthed by soap fans.
In the photo, Jonny smoulders at the camera with a neatly trimmed beard and piercing green eyes. The actor also has a full head of hair with no combover in sight.
The headshot was shared on social media, leaving EastEnders fans stunned to see what Jonny looks like off-screen.
“Very handsome, should have kept him like that,” one soap fan penned, as a second said: "What a difference… shocker."
A third person exclaimed: "Omg he is so good looking, he looks so different in real life."
Many will also recognise Jonny from his roles in BBC's Silent Witness and CBBC's MI High. He's also a comedian and has starred in several adverts for retailers such as Domino's Pizza and Ford.
It was announced in December that Jonny would be joining the cast of EastEnders as Reiss, and he now seems to have settled into life in Walford.
Reiss has began pursuing a romance with Sonia, who he's now moved in with, and the pair's relationship appeared to be going well up until recent episodes, where Reiss' past began to be uncovered.
Sonia began putting pressure on him to jet to Thailand with her to visit her daughter Bex (Jasmine Armfield) leaving Reiss uncomfortable. He appeared reluctant to go and get his passport renewed in order to head on the trip.
During Thursday's episode, Reiss continued to put Sonia off going on the trip by finding multiple different excuses, and he could then be seen calling somebody on his phone in private in the hallway of Sonia's home.
Reiss was heard asking to speak to his wife, leaving viewers shocked as the character's past begins to be explored in the BBC soap.
EastEnders continues Monday – Thursday on BBC One.
