EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison looks virtually unrecognisable as she was spotted on the red carpet for a West End show.

Cheryl attended the pink carpet for Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story press night at the Dominion Theatre in London on Wednesday.

She wore a baker boy cap and a long pattered cardigan on top of black trousers and a black shirt. She also kept it simple with the shoes as she went for some black boots.

She kept the accessories to a minimum, with a red handbag, a simple silver necklace and her wedding ring as she went for a classic red lip in terms of makeup.

The star is most famously known for her role as Shirley Carter’s best friend in the BBC soap, Heather Trott who spent much of her time working in the launderette.

Cheryl joined the soap in 2007 as Shirley’s George Michael loving sidekick and had fans hooked until she was forced off-screen in 2012 after being hit over the head with a picture frame by Ben Mitchell.

Despite being dead, the character did pop up briefly in 2016 when Dot Cotton found a mixtape with her voice on it.

Last year, she slammed the BBC soap for being "out of touch" and branded her character's exit from the show "a bit harsh".

Speaking to The Mirror, she said that she "wasn't surprised" that the soap got its lowest ever ratings last Autumn – 1.7m, compared to around 7m when she left.

She then said: "They need to bring it back down to earth a bit,"

"When the sensational stuff becomes like a movie, it becomes a bit like a blur.

"Arthur stealing the money, Den and Angie’s divorce papers, those were the hearts and lives of real people. The producers need to go out and talk to people. If you wanted explosions, you'd watch Fast and Furious."

Cheryl is currently married to Yassine Al-Jermoni, who is 21 years her junior.

Last year, Cheryl also hit back at fans who have criticised her for the age gap in her marriage.

Cheryl explained how when her son Alex, 22, asks Alexa for a fact about his mum, it immediately responds with: "Cheryl Fergison is married to a goatherd from Morocco".

Detailing her annoyance at this, Cheryl said: "Why's that the first fact that comes up? And it's wrong!"

She then added: "We don't have any goats. We've never had any goats near us! But that's the first thing people say. I find it really difficult to pin down why – there's racism, sexism, ageism – all the isms are there when people talk about our relationship."

Cheryl continued, telling The Mirror: "The world has become so cynical. People think it's got to be a con, it's got to be a problem. But I say, 'It hasn't got to be anything. Just stop it!'"
