Eddie Murphy leaves fans in hysterics as he mocks Will Smiths infamous Oscars slap

Eddie Murphy couldn’t help himself on Wednesday as he joked about the infamous Will Smith slap while accepting the coveted Cecil B DeMille award.

This year’s star-studded Golden Globes, which also saw Jerrod Carmichael joke that he only got the hosting job “because he’s black”, saw celebrities like Margot Robbie, Jenna Ortega and Kaley Cuoco come together to celebrate the incredible nominations.

One notable moment came when Chris Rock referenced the viral Oscars slap from 2022, which saw Will, 54, jump to Jada Pinkett Smith’s defence.

During the final moments of his acceptance speech, Eddie, 61, shared three “simple” things to enjoy a long-last career.

“Pay your taxes, mind your business and keep Will Smith's wife's name out of your f*****g mouth,” he joked, referencing the now-viral line.

The room was left laughing at the jab, with many viewers also taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

“The greatest to ever do it. #EddieMurphy,” wrote one fan, as another said, “Yeah Eddie still got it. If he comes back here is gonna make everyone else look less funny. Everyone.”

A third joked, “I love that Smith has become a laughingstock and a joke to the industry. Sucks for him, but great comedy for us.”

Last year’s Oscars ceremony saw the comedian make a joke that Jada, 51, looked like G.I Jane with her hair shaved, which her husband did not take kindly to.

The Aladdin actor proceeded to walk on stage and slap the comedian, which was subsequently talked about for weeks and resulted in an Oscars ceremony ban until 2032.

Will initially refused to leave the event, with Chris also telling the police to stand down, and was later blasted online by various A-listers, including Katherine Ryan and Jim Carrey.

Both Will and Chris released statements following the slap, and the i Robot actor was also challenged to a boxing match by Chris’ brother and slammed by his mother.

“I was fogged out by that point. It is all fuzzy. I’ve reached out to Chris and the message that came back is that, he’s not ready to talk. When he is, he will reach out. I will say to you, Chris, I apologise to you," Will explained in a video.

He added: "This is probably irreparable. I spent the last three months replaying and understanding the nuance and complexity of what happened in that moment. I’m not going to try to unpack all of that right now, but I can say to all of you, there is no part of me that thinks that was the right way to behave in that moment."
