EDEN CONFIDENTIAL: Some good cheer at last for crocked Eamonn Holmes as he lands bumper new deal from GB News
Following a horrendous few months, I’m pleased to report there’s some good news on the horizon for Eamonn Holmes.
The Northern Irish presenter, currently off-screen after suffering a nasty fall at his home in Surrey, is set to be offered a bumper new deal with GB News.
Eamonn has clearly made a big impact at the channel and I can reveal that bosses have drawn up a brand new contract, which will see him continue to host the breakfast show alongside Isabel Webster in the New Year.
Speaking at this week’s TV Choice Awards, Webster said she was ‘missing her friend terribly’.

So popular is the 62-year-old with the powers that be, that in addition to an extension of his morning role, he is also being offered his own chat show.
‘Eamonn has had a really difficult few months,’ my source tells me. ‘So this is welcome news and comes at a time where Eamonn continues to recover from his accident.
‘He’s hugely popular with viewers, ratings are strong and GB News wants to reward him with a new contract.
‘The idea with the new chat-show is for Eamonn to sit down with high-profile names talking about their life and times. It’s something which really appeals to him and he’ll have talks about it in the New Year.’
News of the deal comes a matter of weeks after he revealed he’d fallen while recovering from an operation to correct a long-term issue with his back. It means he’s unlikely to appear on the small screen again until next year

Earlier this year, John Cleese announced he was fronting a new show on the channel’s TV and radio platforms which is due to start broadcasting in early 2023.
My Daily Mail colleague Andrew Pierce has also recently started a new programme on the station.
GB News has declined to comment.
Candice never down at heel
Bake Off star Candice Brown is adamant there is an unusual reason she had a penchant for wearing high heels when she triumphed on the show in 2016
Bake Off star Candice Brown is adamant there is an unusual reason she had a penchant for wearing high heels when she triumphed on the show in 2016.
‘I quite like baking in heels because I tiptoe otherwise,’ she says. And Candice, 37, who now runs The Green Man pub in Milton Keynes, says customers find it highly amusing to see her teetering around behind the bar.
‘People still laugh, even when I’m in the pub. I really tiptoe and I don’t know why.’
TV explorer Levison Wood trained with Prince Harry at Sandhurst. Now Levison, 40, who is the ambassador for the Walking Home for Christmas campaign in support of the Armed Forces, says he believes his old chum was right to step away from royal duties. ‘It was his decision and you can’t blame him for wanting to make the right moves for his young family,’ he tells me.
Toff tips pain for Hancock
Matt Hancock might have become an unlikely jungle heartthrob but 2017 I’m A Celebrity winner Georgia Toffolo definitely won’t be hanging his picture on her bedroom wall any time soon

‘I certainly do not have a crush on Matt Hancock,’ she tells me at ITV Palooza! at the Royal Festival Hall in London. However, the 28-year-old does think the former Health Secretary could be in the jungle for the long haul.
‘I don’t think he will be the first person to be evicted because he’s done so many trials,’ she adds. ‘I think the British public work in weird and wonderful ways and they’ll want him to stay in and suffer a bit more.’
Renowned cellist Julian Lloyd Webber suggests the King, a fellow string section aficionado, is somewhat of a mastermind when it comes to music. ‘I have met King Charles several times, he really knows his stuff,’ he tells me. So, does Julian, 71, who is set to help young musicians in new show Rising Stars which airs on Sky Arts on Saturday, think it’s time he received a knighthood? ‘It is good for classical music in general for anyone to be recognised with honours,’ he adds. I’ll take that as a yes.
Peston’s scruff shoe shuffle
As the political editor at ITV News, Robert Peston is suited if not always booted on screen. And his dress sense was called into question when he went for lunch at a gentlemen’s club in London recently
As the political editor at ITV News, Robert Peston is suited if not always booted on screen. And his dress sense was called into question when he went for lunch at a gentlemen’s club in London recently.
His trainers were deemed too scruffy, so he had to borrow a pair from a staff member in order to be admitted. Peston, 62, says he was slightly embarrassed. ‘I felt very stupid,’ he tells me. ‘I would have gone elsewhere if my host had not already ordered our lunch.’ Even Robert Peston doesn’t turn down a free lunch!
Lord Ashcroft is seeking some stories on Rishi Sunak. Having penned 2020 book Going For Broke: The Rise Of Rishi Sunak, the former Tory treasurer wants more up-to- date yarns. ‘I am going to revise and update that book and publish it next year,’ says the 76-year-old, at the launch of his new book In The Shadows, held at Banqueting House in Whitehall. ‘If anybody has any good stories about him that they would like to share with me, my door is open.’
Love on the menu for TV chef Gizzi
It’s more than a Highland fling for aristocratic chef Gizzi Erskine and her rocker love Matthew Turner, singer of punk band Luxury Apartments, as the pair went public with their romance at the 120th birthday of The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. ‘It was a very fun party and this place is important to me,’ says the 43-year-old daughter of the late Lord Erskine of Rerrick.
