She was the picture of poise and refinement in the BBC’s adaptation of Les Miserables – but Ellie Bamber cut a decidedly less elegant figure on a day out in north London.

Our picture shows the actress, who appeared as the orphaned Cosette in Les Mis, sporting a look that appears to be based on the Banana Splits character Bingo.

One onlooker commented: ‘I can only assume that she doesn’t mind being noticed when she is out and about in public. 

‘That outfit isn’t exactly the sort of thing you’d take out of the wardrobe if you were intending to go incognito.’

Bingo, the band’s drummer, had a trademark look that featured white-framed sunglasses – just like Ms Bamber in our photo.

The 26-year-old’s other screen credits include The Serpent and The Trial Of Christine Keeler. She also appeared with Keira Knightley and Morgan Freeman in 2018’s The Nutcracker And The Four Realms.
