Emmerdale star Charley Webb shuts down her ‘dream business’ after less than three years
Emmerdale’s Charley Webb has been forced to close down her “dream” business after opening it up with her husband back in 2020.
Charley, who has played Debbie Dingle in the soap since 2002, set up Nordi Baby, which sells Scandinavian-style wooden children’s toys, with her husband Matthew Wolfenden and his brother David just three years ago.
Fans may recognise Matthew from his work on Emmerdale, where he has played shop owner David Metcalfe since 2006.
Taking to Instagram, Charley, 34, told her 573k followers: “@nordi_babi is closing. I’ve loved this chapter and the journey it’s taken us on but we just don’t have the time to run it the way we want to.”
“I love everything Scandi so this has been a dream,” She added.
Charley unveiled the brand back in 2020 when she said: "Our own business. I can’t believe it. I’m beyond excited for this but also so nervous.
"We’ve wanted to do this for years and we’ve finally got to the stage where we can make it happen. We’re starting off really small and hopefully we will expand as we go.
"Scandinavian style is my favourite whether it’s toys or decor and with Nördi Bäbi we hope to bring you a little bit of what we love. I can’t wait for you guys to go on this journey with us. Xx"
The business, which is now hosting a 40% off closing sale, specialises in wooden items like teething, stacking and pull-along toys.
The idea first came to her back in 2010 when her eldest son Barker was born, and Charley couldn’t find any toys she liked.
This comes after Charley crashed her car back in December when she attempted to back it up and hit a post, resulting in the bumper falling off.
Sharing a snap of the damage, Charley wrote: "Good morning to ME. Just bashed my car into a post and this was the result."
She further explained the ordeal later in the day, taking to her Instagram story once more and detailing: "The car, yes, really annoying. I was driving into a space, I wasn't even driving fast, if I'd have been driving more than like two miles an hour, it probably would have taken the whole bonnet off.
"Can't believe the damage that it's done. Anyway, no one was hurt. That's the main thing. But it's just really p***ed me off."
Charley continued: "Loads of stuff has gone wrong today. I need to just go to bed and just get back up tomorrow because today is not my day.
"I wouldn't mind but I went to bed last night and did this really nice abundance, affirmation and manifesting meditation. That did not work, did it?"
