Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney has admitted her income from acting jobs wouldn’t be able to cover her if she decided to take a six month break.
The actress, 24, who has played the turbulent Cassie Howard on the HBO hit since 2019, said they ‘don’t pay actors like they used to’ while detailing how much of her salary went to her team in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
Sydney has an estimated net worth of $4million and reportedly earned $350,000 for the second eight episode series of the show (around $43,750 per episode).
World Celebs claims Sydney was paid around $25,000 per episode for season one, totalling $200,000.
The screen star explained while ‘the established stars still get paid’, she has to give ‘five percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager’.

The White Lotus star said: ‘If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have income to cover that.
‘I don’t have someone supporting me. They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals.
‘The established stars still get paid, but I have to give five percent to my lawyer, 10 percent to my agents, three percent or something like that to my business manager. I have to pay my publicist every month and that’s more than my mortgage.’
Due to her punishing back-to-back schedule of projects, Sydney, who will next appear in Spider-Man universe film, Madame Web , said she ‘can’t sleep’ and feels a pressure to keep the momentum going around her career.

Discussing Hollywood behind-the-scenes, she said it was built to ‘make you backstab people’ and how she saw people falsely claiming to support one another in the industry.
Sydney also said she never spoke to her Euphoria co-stars about her salary.
She recently learned she was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards.
The nominations are for Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Drama Series for the second season of the teen drama Euphoria, and Outstanding Supporting Actress In A Limited Or Anthology Series Or Movie for the black comedy series The White Lotus.

Elsewhere in the Hollywood Reporter interview, Sydney opened up about her status as a sex symbol.
While Euphoria has earned critical acclaim, with her co-star Zendaya becoming the youngest to win the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series Emmy, it has also become controversial with reports of long working hours and overly sexualized material.
Sweeney brushed those reports aside, stating, ‘I fully trust in the filmmakers that I work with, and I’m always so excited for whatever (Euphoria creator) Sam (Levinson) writes.’
She added that she loses herself so fully in the material that she forgets what it’s like behind-the-scenes adding, ‘It’s as if it’s someone else’s life.’
‘People forget that I’m playing a character, they think, “Oh, she gets naked onscreen, she’s a sex symbol,”‘ Sweeney said.
She said: ‘I don’t have someone supporting me. They don’t pay actors like they used to, and with streamers, you no longer get residuals’ (pictured with Jacob Elordi in Euphoria)
‘And I can’t get past that. I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry,’ she added.
The second season of Euphoria found Cassie hooking up with Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), shortly after he split with her best friend Maddie (Alexa Demie).
‘He read me that first scene where Cassie and Nate go into the bathroom. And I was like, “Oh my God, Sam, you’re a madman,”‘ Sweeney says of Cassie and Nate’s first hookup at a rowdy New Year’s Eve party.
That first episode paved the way for her to continue secretly hooking up with Nate, and lead to her now-infamous bathroom breakdown that likely secured her Emmy nomination
‘I feel really bad for Cassie; she’s losing herself so much. But I thrive doing that s**t. People talk about how heavy this season is, but I love it,’ Sweeney added.
