Ferne McCann reveals she sent voice notes during fallout with Sam Faiers: ‘I’m ashamed’

Former TOWIE starFerne McCannhas opened up about last year's voice note scandal, which saw an anonymous Instagram account leak a number of the star's private voice messages in which she made a number of derogatory remarks towards former friendSam Faiers.

Now, in her ITVBe series Ferne McCann: First Time Mum, Ferne, 32, has publicly addressed the voice notes as she discussed how ashamed she felt over them.

As she became emotional over the leaked messages, Ferne explained: "I'm so ashamed and embarrassed and I know the words are very hurtful. It was from a time when I was really hurting, and in a very vulnerable and bad place.

"They were from about five years ago when me and Sam had a fall out. It's very hard for me to talk about this because I don't want to bring up the past.

"Would I say those things now, absolutely not, but those I absolutely apologised for."

Ferne then discussed how the voice notes brought an end to her decades long friendship with Sam and Sam's sister Billie Shepherd.

She continued: "I've lost my whole relationship with Billie, and that really hurts.

"She has been my best friend for so many years, and that plays into where I don't feel whole, I feel really lost. Friendships are so important. And you say things where if you're angry, or if you're hurt, you say things."

Prior to the release of the new series of First Time Mum, Ferne appeared on This Morning, where she broke down in tears as she discussed the voice notes.

She became emotional as she watched a teaser clip of the upcoming series of First Time Mum.

Wiping away her tears, Ferne admitted: "It's really hard to watch!", adding that when you let the cameras follow your life for reality TV, it's "warts and all".

She continued: "It definitely wasn't my finest hour, and it definitely was a very difficult time in my life when those voice notes were leaked.

"I do need to take this opportunity to publicly apologise again to those affected. Obviously the words that I used were unpleasant and I have reached out privately to those people."
