Mum-of-one Gemma Atkinson, 38, admitted she can only just about manage six hours sleep, mostly due to her fiancé Gorka Marquez’s love of watching Spanish TV “’til stupid hour”. The pregnant actress used her Hits Radio show as a chance to vent about the Strictly Come Dancing professional’s annoying habit this week.

In a clip shared by the radio station’s official Instagram page, Gemma and her co-host Mike Toolan discussed research which has shown that people who get eight hours sleep per night are 35 per cent more productive.

The new study prompted Mike to ask Gemma how many hours she sleeps each night.

Gemma sighed as she admitted: “Oh, I get about six – two dogs, a toddler and a partner who likes to watch Spanish telly on his laptop ’til stupid hour.”

The former Emmerdale star, who is expecting the couple’s second child, has a particular gripe about Gorka tuning into the Spanish version of The Voice when she’s trying to sleep.

Gemma highlighted the loud theme tune as something that frequently wakes her up.

She jokingly confessed: “It’s the one thing where I think to myself, I could leave you over this.

“He watches The Voice Kids in Spain.

“In the Spanish version, it goes eS lA vOz! So I hear that all the time.

“Even though he has his headphones on, the room’s like illuminating blue because of the laptop.

“And the other night I woke up about quarter to two and he’d fallen asleep with it open watching eS lA vOz!”

Gemma admitted to her Hits Radio listeners that she had reached the end of her tether, prompting her to slam Gorka’s laptop shut.

She fumed: “And I thought, I can’t cope with this.

“So I got out, I walk round my bed, and I purposely slammed it shut on his chest.

“He went, ‘uh!’ I said, ‘I have been woken up again by this computer!’ And I say to him go in the other room.”

Doing an impressive impression of Gorka’s Spanish accent, Gemma recalled: “He goes, ‘no because I want to be near you.’

“I said, ‘yeah, but I don’t want to be near you when you’re watching eS lA vOz’,” the star exclaimed in frustration, causing Mike to burst into laughter.
