Gwyneth Paltrow’s Kids Testify In Ski Collision Trial, Says Mom Said 'This A**hole Ran Into Me'
Gwyneth Paltrow‘s kids are sharing their side of the story!
If you haven’t been keeping up with the Goop founder’s legal drama, she’s been in court for the last several days debating a ski crash that took place at Deer Valley Resort in Park City, Utah in 2016. Retired optometrist Terry Sanderson has claimed the actress crashed into him from behind and left him with “a brain injury, four broken ribs, and other serious injuries.” But Gwyneth disagrees, arguing in a countersuit that Terry was the one who crashed into her!
This month, the pair and their teams have been in court to discuss the matter — and it’s been a wild and wacky case with some truly odd lines of questioning!!
On Tuesday, the 50-year-old got a little help from her children, Apple, 18, and Moses, 16. While they did not take the stand as expected, stand-ins read their depositions to the jury. First off, Apple revealed she didn’t witness the collision but was aware of how much “pain” and “shock” her mother was in after. Her statement read:
“I did hear some commotion, but I was further down, so I decided to continue to go down to the lodge. She came in … and I asked what had happened, and she said, ‘This a**hole ran into me. He ran right into my back.’”
The controversial health and wellness guru was so “shaken up” by the collision, she did not return to the slopes that day, which was very unusual for her. Describing Gwyneth as “clearly visibly upset” the teen, who was about 12 at the time, continued:
“She decided after that she was not going to ski for the rest of the day, which she never does. She always stays on.”
She added:
“I remember that’s why she went to the spa to get a massage.”
The Iron Man alum previously went viral for complaining she lost “half a day of skiing” because of the accident. Sounds like her time on the slopes was really important to her! Though, when you’re going against a man who claims he was changed forever due to his brain injury, it sure sounds insensitive AF!
Meanwhile, the now 16-year-old did not see the full accident, but he saw the aftermath on the mountain — and he seemed to back up what his mother has been saying! Moses said in his statement that he did not hear a noise before the collision, noting:
“I recall skiing with my instructor and briefly seeing the collision. And then he skied over and I followed him and I saw my mother and a person behind her … who had crashed.”
Moses, who was 9 at the time of the accident, went on to say the Politician alum was downhill from the man and was “yelling at the guy,” noting:
“She was saying something along the lines of, ‘What the F-word? You just ran into me.’”
Sounds like Apple and Moses, whom Gwyneth shares with Chris Martin, are corroborating their momma’s side of things! The Emmy winner’s attorney Stephen Owens previously told the jurors they could expect to “hear from” the kids and their stepdad Brad Falchuk. It’s currently unclear when he will take the stand, but he was present on the vacation, which was meant to determine whether the couple “could blend families,” so he may know some things, too.
For now, you can hear the full testimonies (below):
