Harry and Meghan’s trailer release is a ‘declaration of war’, say royal experts
Royal experts have expressed their thoughts on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming Netflix documentary after the trailer for the new show dropped on Thursday December 1.
From Meghan crying and Harry saying he needed to “protect his family”, to the pair showing a rare glimpse inside their Los Angeles home, the documentary appears to delve into almost every part of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s life.
In the wake of the trailer dropping, one royal expert labelled the programme as a “declaration of war”.
“I don't see how anyone could view it as anything other than a declaration of war”, they told the MailOnline.
Meanwhile, another said it wasn’t a surprise that the two royals’ decision to release the trailer the same time as Prince William and Kate Middleton’s trip to the States.
Echoing similar sentiments, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said: "The timing draws attention away from William and Catherine's visit to Boston, which is highly prestigious. William is launching the Earthshot Prize and meeting Biden, which is very very prestigious.”
The Prince and Princess of Wales touched down in America on Wednesday November 30, and aren’t expected to visit the Sussexes during the stay.
On the second day of their visit, Kate and William attended the Boston Harbour Defences Engagement.
The pair, both 40, who had already had a busy day visiting a clean tech company focusing on their drive for the environment, switched gears late afternoon when they attended an engagement at Boston Harbour.
Kate changed her outfit and opted for a bright tangerine knitted dress, chocolate-brown coat and matching scarf and boots for the chilly afternoon.
William was also wrapped up for the outdoor occasion in a navy coat and grey scarf.
The Royal couple learned all about how the city has been successful in driving climate innovation at Greentown Labs, but at the Defence engagement the focus was on the climate challenges for Boston.
Harry and Meghan’s explosive documentary isn’t the only thing to have rocked the Royal Family of late after Buckingham Palace was hit with another race-row.
Senior courtier Lady Susan Hussey, William’s godmother, was forced to resign after campaigner Ngozi Fulani said she had been racially insulted by the royal aide at a reception this week.
Royal journalist Jennie Bond labelled the ordeal as a “disaster” for William.
“She was a very, very senior member of the Queen's entourage. She was her confidant in many ways,” Jennie said of Lady Susan.
“I've always found her to be courteous and to be kind. But clearly this is a disaster. This was a showcase event at Buckingham Palace about violence against women, and a woman who was invited to be there to celebrate the work that she has done has been made to feel violated.”
