Harry will be ‘nowhere near’ the Buckingham Palace balcony on day of King’s Coronation
Prince Harry has confirmed he will be attending his father King Charles’ Coronation, but a royal expert has shared he will be "nowhere near" the Buckingham Palace balcony on the day.
Buckingham Palace announced on Wednesday that The Duke of Sussex, 38, will attend the King’s Coronation but the Duchess of Sussex, 41, will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
It comes after weeks of speculation surrounding whether the royal couple will be attending the historic event, with royal expert Tessa Dunlop previously sharing it would be "very hard for Harry not to go".
As Harry confirms his solo attendance for the King's Coronation, Tessa has shared with OK! that although he'll be present he will be "nowhere near" the Buckingham Palace balcony.
After the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey The King and The Queen Consort will return to Buckingham Palace where they will appear on the balcony and be joined by other members of the Royal Family.
But Tessa said "that if you have Harry (on the balcony) then they would have to have everyone else", such as other members of the Royal Family that aren't working or senior royals.
Harry "won’t be anywhere near the balcony”, she confirmed.
She further explained that they'll probably have only "the working royals and the key royals" on the balcony.
She said this is expected to include Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh and his wife Sophie and The Prince and Princess Wales along with their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
Tessa also shared that Anne, Princess Royal "will be there presumably" adding that "she’ll have quite a big role and be upfront".
“But I don't think you'll have too many people because I think the whole point is about this slimmed down family," she explained.
“It will be just the working royals certainly".
Adding: “Anyone who doesn't get on the balcony, they'll get in the throne room for a photo”.
Talking about the Pages of Honours for the Coronation Tessa said they will "come up for a wave on the balcony and I would expect the Maid of Honours if there are any”.
Tessa explained that The Maid of Honours for the Coronation have not yet been announced although the Pages of Honours have.
Plans for the day were announced by Buckingham Palace sharing that the Coronation Service will take place on the morning of May 6 at Westminster Abbey with The King and The Queen Consort arriving in procession from Buckingham Palace.
After the service, Their Majesties will return to Buckingham Palace in a larger ceremonial procession where they will be joined by other members of the Royal Family.
When they arrive at Buckingham Palace The King and The Queen Consort along with members of the Royal Family will appear on the balcony – a tradition held for numerous ceremonial events including during the Queen's Jubilee and royal weddings with Harry "nowhere near" it.
Buckingham Palace shared a brief statement on Wednesday 12 April sharing the news that Harry will be attending the King's Coronation.
She said: “Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.
“The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.”
