Helen Skelton has revealed she’s having the time of her life on Strictly amid a tumultuous period in her personal life.
The star is currently competing on Strictly Come Dancing, notching up hours of rehearsal time before performing live to millions on Saturday nights, but despite the gruelling schedule the star has gushed about her love for the show.
Speaking to her Radio 5 Live colleagues on her Sunday morning show, Helen was asked about the judges’ critique on Saturday night, suggesting she needs to ‘give a little more fire’ to her routines.

‘I’m having a really good time,’ Helen replied. ‘Some people walk into a room and go “ta da I’m here!” with jazz hands and some people walk into rooms and go “alright” I’m the latter.’
‘And they’re like “you need to give it a bit more”.’
‘In my eyes I’m dancing on a table in front of millions of people on a Saturday night, that’s welly isn’t it?’

The television presenter, 39, performed the Paso Doble this weekend just days after learning her estranged husband Richie Myler was expecting a baby with his new partner Stephanie Thirkill.
Gorka, 32, attempted to boost Helen’s confidence, telling her to ‘believe in you please’, after seeming to allude to her personal difficulties.
After their dance, Gorka said: ‘I know you have been having a difficult time and I know you might not feel that you’re beautiful or good enough, or anything, but if you don’t believe in yourself, I believe in you.’
‘Everybody here believes in you, your family believes in you.

‘It doesn’t matter how many times I say it or the judges say it, or anybody says it, it’s only you who is going to be the one who can make the change and the one who needs to believe in you, because you are an amazing woman, very inspirational, an amazing mum, and an incredible dancer so believe in you please.’
Helen looked awkward as Gorka made his heartfelt speech before diving behind him to hide her face from view.
Helen told her Radio 5 Live colleagues on Sunday that despite her gruelling schedule, she finds going to work ‘a rest’.

‘I’ve got three kids under seven, going to work is a rest,’ she told listeners.
‘When people say “you’re working so hard” it’s not like I’m down the mines is it? Or stacking shelves. I go and dance around, someone paints my face, and someone makes my dinner.’
It was revealed this week that Helen’s estranged husband Richie is expecting a child with his new girlfriend Stephanie, six months after he split from Helen.
Richie ended his eight-year marriage to Countryfile host Helen back in April, just four months after she gave birth to their third child.
He is now expecting a baby with new girlfriend Stephanie, 32, who he was first reported to be seeing just days after his split from Helen was revealed.

The former couple are maintaining ‘cordial relations’ and Helen was reportedly told of the news before Stephanie announced it publicly on social media.
A source told The Sun that Stephanie and Richie are ‘thrilled’ to be expecting their first child, just six months after their relationship came to light.
They added: ‘Stephanie and Richie are obviously thrilled. They have moved very quickly but are extremely happy together.
‘The timing of the pregnancy may raise a few eyebrows though. It is obviously such a huge step, and one made remarkably quickly off the back of Helen and Richie’s eight-year marriage ending.
‘But Richie and Helen maintain cordial relations, and in a way the timing is actually perfect as Helen is so happy at the moment.’

The source added that Helen is ‘far too busy’ focusing on her training and rehearsals for Strictly.
Richie has two young sons Ernie, seven, Louis, five, and daughter Elsie Kate, nine months, with his estranged wife Helen.
His relationship with Stephanie came to light in May, days after it was announced that his eight-year marriage to Helen was over.
Helen was said to feel ‘bewildered’ by the breakdown of her marriage, with a source close to the couple telling MailOnline: ‘Helen is absolutely devastated.’
They continued: ‘Now she is contemplating life without him while he has moved on with his new partner.’
