Hugh Jackman encourages suncream use after potential basal cell diagnosis

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman, 54, has opened up about his latest skin cancer scare that has left him with a bandage over his nose.

The Australian star took to Twitter yesterday to share he could have Basal Cell Carcinoma, which is the most common from of skin cancer.

In view of his 15 million followers, the Hollywood actor said: “Hey guys. So, I wanted you to hear it from me just in case someone sees me on the street or whatever.

“I’ve just had two biopsies done. I just went to my doctor, Dr Iron, who’s awesome.

“I’ll find out in two or three days and as soon as I know, I’ll let you know,” he continued in the video, where his bandaged nose could be seen.

“Just to remind you, Basal Cell in the world of skin cancers is the least dangerous of them all.”

The star went on to admit that the sunspots that have been cut from his skin are a result of his time spent outdoors without proper sun protection 25 years ago.

The Greatest Showman actor went on to implore fans to be safe when out in the sun ahead of this summer season.

“Please wear sunscreen,” he begged his fans. “It is just not worth it.

“No matter how much you want to tan, trust me, trust me, trust me.

“Put some sunscreen on,” he added. “You’ll still have an incredible time out there, alright? Please be safe.”

In his caption, Hugh went on to explain how he’d always been open about his past skin cancer scares, explaining how it was all with the aim of encouraging fans to put on sunscreen.

“I know you’ve heard me talk about my basal cell carcinomas before. I’m going to keep talking about them, if need be,” he wrote.

“And if it reminds even one person to put on sunscreen with a high SPF, then I’m happy.”

Hugh had had six skin cancers removed from his face within a two-year period starting in 2017.

Four years later in 2021, he also had an inconclusive result following a biopsy on his face.
