Hurricane Ian Forces Country Singers Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan to Postpone Wedding
In an Instagram video to inform guests that their weekend nuptials have been canceled, the ‘Voice’ contestant and the ‘Bridesmaids’ songstress say their wedding is ‘the least of [their] concerns’ right now.
AceShowbiz -As Hurricane Ian has wreaked havoc in Florida, at least a couple has been forced to reschedule their wedding. Country singers Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan have announced their nuptials, which were supposed to take place this weekend, have been postponed.
In an Instagram video to let their guests know that the wedding has been delayed, the couple put aside their personal matter and asked for prayers for Fort Myers Beach, which has been greatly damaged by the storm. “First and foremost, please if you would, send down prayers and love to Fort Myers Beach,” Jay said in the video posted on Wednesday, September 28.
He continued, “All the people down there are like a second family to us. Obviously, we were supposed to get married this weekend, but that is the least of our concerns. We are heartbroken for everyone that is losing their homes and their businesses right now.”
The current “The Voice” contestant assured his followers, “We can reschedule our wedding. We basically just wanted to let all of our guests know. We’re going to find another date in the future. But please if you would, just please have everyone down, especially in Fort Myers Beach. Have them on your hearts and your minds today.”
“If you can do anything to help, please do that and we’ll keep y’all updates as we know more,” he added. “We’re getting sent videos today and just the flooding is unreal. So please send them love if you would.”
Kylie, who joined her fiance in the video, then added a few words of her own saying, “Obviously, we’re very sad, very upset, but again, this is the least of our worries. We still have each other, all of our friends are safe and that’s all that matters. So thank you guys so much and we’ll keep you updated.”
Several days prior, the couple had warned that there might be a change in their plans to get married this weekend due to Hurricane Ian. “Hey everyone! Given the current circumstances with Hurricane Ian and it’s uncertain path, we are currently taking every precaution to ensure safety for all,” the “Whiskey Prayer” crooner said in a video posted on Monday.
“For this reason, we will be making a decision on Thursday pertaining to if the wedding will continue on as scheduled or postponed. The variables guiding this decision are items like flooding, power outages, bridge accessibility, etc,” the 36-year-old explained. “Please be patient as we do our best to navigate this situation and trust that we will be in contact the second a decision is made.”
He continued, “In the meantime, it is our strong recommendation that all flights and travel plans be rescheduled for a Friday arrival. Please note: this may require flying into FLL or MIA airports on the east coast and driving to the west side of Florida.”
The storm made its first landfall on Florida’s west coast on Wednesday as a powerful Category 4. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency. Ian downgraded to Category 1 by Thursday night, with winds at 75 mph as it heads toward South Carolina.
