Jeff Brazier proud as son Bobby joins EastEnders but admits Freddie name is confusing

Jeff Brazier has shared his pride about son Bobby joining the cast of EastEnders.

Bobby, 19, is making his acting debut and he has the joined the BBC One soap's cast as the "chaotic" Freddie Slater with scenes set to air in autumn.

After the exciting news was announced, Jeff took to his social media to reveal his pride, while also admitting that Bobby’s character being called Freddie is a bit confusing, as Bobby’s real-life bother is called Freddie.

Jeff is dad to Bobby and Freddie – his children with the late Jade Goody, who tragically died of cervical cancer in 2009 at the age of 27.

Jeff wrote: "Proud of Bobby! He has been gifted an opportunity and he is grabbing it with both hands with a great attitude and respect.

"Little confusing for us that his name is Freddie but we’ll get used to it! Sounds like he is a part of a great team and excited to watch him develop."

Fans also took to Twitter and Instagram to share their excitement about Bobby’s exciting TV role.

One person wrote: “Congratulations look forward to seeing him. Such a handsome young man . His mum would be so proud as I know you are I'm sure. Well done Bobby.”

Another said: “Good for him. Jade would have been beside herself with pride. Great dad work.”

A third commented: “Well done and look forward to seeing your lovely son in his new Role .you must be do proud of him.”

Ruth Langsford commented: "Congratulations @bobbybrazier What an opportunity and we’ll done Jeff for raising such a gifted young man x x."

Bobby will be making his arrival in Albert Square his autumn as the "chaotic" Freddie Slater.

Currently filming scenes, Bobby said he is "very grateful" for the opportunity and that he's "loving every minute" so far.

The model said: "I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect.

"Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped.

"Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I'm very grateful.

"Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford."

While Chris Clenshaw, Executive Producer, added: "Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul.

"A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side. He’s philosophical, accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.

"Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him."

EastEnders continues on BBC One on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One.
