Kate Garraway reveals Derek has been back in hospital
Good Morning Britain’s Kate Garraway, 55, took to Instagram on Sunday to share a rare snap with her beloved husband Derek Draper, 55, and their family in the garden.
Their children Darcey, 17, and Billy, 13, joined them along with their grandparents for what Kate called a “very special weekend”.
She wrote in the caption: “Funny how it was just grandad and I for the digging and planting and then suddenly everyone appears when up!
“Crowning a very special weekend with the Drapers (Aunty Sue & grandma you are here in spirit) by planting a magnolia tree for #earthday. Happy Sunday everyone.”
The rare photograph of Derek delighted Kate’s friends and fans and hundreds flocked to the comments to share positive messages.
Journalist Susanna Reid wrote: “Everything about these is gorgeous.”
While Sarah said: “Ah such a lovely photo and I know it may not be the case but Derek looks really well.”
And Tammy echoed: “Literally a ‘wow moment’ Derek looks amazing! Absolutely priceless pic of you all, but so amazing to have you both at the forefront.”
The presenter had told ITV viewers on Thursday that Derek was back in hospital just days after meeting his idol, Elton John.

Kate and Derek were guests of honour Sir Elton’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour at London’s O2 Arena.
During the concert, the Tiny Dancer singer paid tribute to the couple, telling the crowd that they had endured “really tough times” before dedicating his 1975 hit, Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me, to them.
He said, as reported by The Sun: “They’re inspiring. They’ve never given up and I’m so thrilled they’re here, I can’t believe they are here.

Derek is thought to be the UK’s worst-affected Covid survivor after contracting the virus in March 2020.
Derek spent more than a year in hospital during the early stage of the pandemic which left him fighting for his life and with life-long injuries.
