Katherine Ryan keeps her cool after locking herself out with baby inside in CCTV video

Katherine Ryan has been praised for her calm response after suffering every parent's nightmare, by locking her one month old baby inside her house by accident.

The Canadian comedian's ordeal was caught on CCTV, which her husband Bobby Kootstra, shared on Instagram – where fans soon rushed to commend the star for keeping her cool in the testing situation.

In the clip, 39 year old Katherine could be seen clad in blue jeans and a white t-shirt, with her son Fred on her hip as she exited her home.

She could be heard singing "ooh, ooh, ooh," before saying: "So," and looking down at her car keys, when she realised one month old Fenna was still in the house.

She then exclaimed "Holy s**t. Oh my God, oh my God," as she turned back towards the front door and put her hand to her mouth in shock.

Katherine then put her keys in her mouth as she rummaged around in her pocket, presumably for the house key, as she once again said: "Oh s**t!"

She then threw some shoes on a box outside her house as she continued to hold her son and remained impressively calm, as she said: "Uh oh, uh oh, uh oh. I did something really bad.

"Uh oh, I wonder if the locked door is open…no," before looking up to the sky in angst, continuing with her "uh oh" talk.

She could clearly be seen thinking hard, saying "s**t" before heading off toward the car, again presumably, to look for a house key.

Bobby clearly found the whole episode hilarious as he captioned the post: "My wife locked the baby in the house to get me home from the golf course immediately."

Reposting it on her own Story, Katherine revealed that she had left her phone in the house too.

People were quick to comment on the video, as one person wrote: "Lol. You can see Catherine’s brain ticking to see what to do. She did well to keep so calm."

Another commented: "She’s a hero for not losing her absolute s**t on the porch!

A third said: "Sweet Mama! We’ve ALLLLL been there. Bless you and your babies!" whilst a fourth commented: "Oh no bless her. What a nightmare x"

Katherine clearly later saw the funny side of the whole situation, as she posted a screenshot of the security video to her Instagram stories, writing: "That time I locked my baby and phone in the house.

She then thanked her husband bobby for "another heroic family rescue".

Katherine gave birth to daughter Fenna, her third child, in December. She is already mother to Fred, who was born in June 2021, who she shares with Bobby, and a 12 year old daughter, Violet, from a previous relationship.

Bobby announced the happy news of Fenna's birth on Instagram, as he posted a photo of Katherine holding their newborn daughter.

He wrote: “Fenna Grace Kootstra Dec 16, at 12:05am. Mom is incredible! Proving her strength repeatedly through the relatively lengthy delivery at home. We are so blessed :)."
