Katie Price admits ‘Junior is a mini-Pete – he’s so different to me’
They say the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree and TV icon Katie Price believes this couldn't be more true in the case of her 17-year-old son Junior, whom she says is a "mini" version of dad Peter Andre.
Speaking to OK! ahead of the premiere of the brand new series of Mucky Mansions, the former glamour model, 44 – who is also mum to Harvey, 20, Princess, 15, Junior, 17, Jett, nine, and Bunny, eight – gushes over Junior's musical success so far.
"His dad is a singer," she talks of Mysterious Girl performer ex-husband Peter, 50. "So he’s [Junior] following in his footsteps. Junior is a mini-Pete, and Princess is a mini-me. But of course they have their own identities."
Junior’s singing career is going from strength to strength after his first single, Slide, hit the charts last year.
"He’s so different to the rest of the kids. He lives and breathes his studio," Katie adds. "He doesn’t want to do photoshoots with us any more – he wants to be known as his own person.
"He’s at that age where he’s too cool for school. He’s so driven. He’s so different to me. Junior has really got his head screwed on."
She adds of her former flame – to whom she was married 2005 to 2009: "He’s got Pete’s personality – calm and collected."
As ex-I'm A Celebrity star Katie explains, she believes daughter Princess – whom she also shares with Peter – is to her what Junior is to his father.
The mother and daughter duo bear a striking resemblance to each other as they pose for photographs during our exclusive shoot, so it’s no surprise Princess is now following in her mum’s footsteps by embarking on her own modelling career.
"I can absolutely see Princess being a successful model – she’s stunning," Katie tells us, bursting with pride.
She adds: "And I will always be there to support and guide her. I know when agents are taking advantage, so I would always step in if I felt something wasn’t right for her. I’m a protective mother and I make sure my cubs are looked after."
Katie – who shares son Harvey with ex-footballer Dwight Yorke and kids Jett and Bunny with former husband Kieran Hayler – reveals that modelling is a career path Princess has always wanted to take after joining her on photoshoots from a young age.
"She’s seen behind the scenes and experienced it from that point of view," she explains. "She loves hair and make-up and I’m sure she will enjoy getting dressed up for her own shoots, which I’ll be coming along to watch as a proud mum.
Katie started modelling at the age of 17 and joined The Sun’s Page 3 in the late-90s under the name of Jordan.
And when it comes to the career advice she’d give her teenage daughter, Katie says: "We’ve always spoken about it as a family. As long as she takes good honest advice, whether that be from me or her dad, and stays true to herself, she’ll smash it."
