Katie Price’s mum claims ex Alex Reid injected himself with Harvey’s medication
Katie Price's mum Amy claims her daughter's ex-husband Alex Reid of injecting himself with Harvey Price's medication.
The terminally-ill mum of model Katie makes the damning accusations in her new book, The Last Word, as reported in The Sun, saying it was the couple's nannies who discovered the cagefighter had used Harvey's hormone medication a handful of times. Alex has previously admitted to taking the medication by accident, thinking it was his own prescription.
“Once or twice, the nannies complained they found Alex’s topless exhibitionism uncomfortable around the house, but things escalated when they said that he had been using Harvey’s hormone medication Genotropin," Amy wrote in a report in The Sun.
“Alex has since said he injected himself by accident, thinking the medicine was his own.” she added.
Katie started dating Alex shortly after her split from Peter Andre in 2009 and they married less than a year later in 2010.
The growth hormone is designed to treat "several growth disorders in children and adults", according to its manufacturer, including Harvey's condition, Prada-Willi syndrome.
Harvey, now 21, is the son of former footballer Dwight Yorke and was diagnosed with the rare genetic condition Prader-Willi syndrome as a baby.
The condition, which only affects around one in 15,000 children in England, affects the development and function of the body's central nervous system. According to the NHS, it also affect muscle tone and can lead to behavioural challenges and learning difficulties.
He also has diagnosis of Septo-optic Dysplasia and autism, and requires consistent support and care, as well as regular medications.
Alex has said in the past that he has used steroid medication, but only when he "was younger, for aesthetic reasons", and never as performance enhancers as a professional fighter. He told Sky News in 2016 that you "can't buy ability in a bottle".
Later, in 2013, he admitted to accidentally taking Harvey's hormone medication after mistaking it for his own medication that was prescribed following an injury .
"It was an error on my part that I didn't check the label properly. I never expected Kate to place Harvey's meds next to mine. On the face of it, they both looked identical," the Daily Mail reported.
The damning accusations haven't come at a good time for Alex, who's fiancée Nikki Minashe is currently expecting twin boys. The couple already share an almost two-year-old daughter, Anastasia, and went through a long IVF journey to get pregnant again.
Amy's new book is making waves as it lifts the lid on her daughter's sometimes tumultuous life, including her brief 19-month relationship to Alex and her drink driving conviction in September 2021, which Amy said almost forced her to section Katie.
The book comes after the 71-year-old was diagnosed with terminal idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and offers a unique insight into Katie's world as a mum to Harvey, Junior, 18, Princess, 15, Jett, nine, and Bunny, eight.
In 2021 Katie shared her special relationship with Harvey in a moving documentary for the BBC. In Katie Price: Harvey and Me, she opened up about the incredible bond she has with her eldest child and showed the next stage in their journey as he moved to the residential National Star in Cheltenham.
At the time, Katie said she wanted to share their story because "Harvey deserves to have his voice heard", adding, "It’s not just for Harvey, but for everyone else who is in a similar situation. Harvey is proof that you’re not limited in life just because you have a disability."
