Former Strictly Come Dancing star Kelvin Fletcher, 38, hit out at fans who were left “upset” by a video where he can be seen poking his wife Liz Marsland with “a little boxing glove”. While the incident happened a long time ago, the Emmerdale star made it clear that he felt the need to address the situation, as his followers continued to voice their opinions on the clip.
Kelvin took to Instagram today to shut down the criticism once and for all in view of his 489,000 followers.
“Oh no, that old video that I put up of me poking Liz last year – I think that was last year – with a little boxing glove,” he began.
“For those that don’t know us, we find it imperative to a happy relationship that jokes, humour and not taking ourselves too seriously…
“Pranks or whatever you want to call them are, like I said, pretty important.”
“So that’s why it’s up there. It’s upset a few,” he continued in reference to followers that had complained.
“If you’re upset by it then… Sorry,” he said, pausing to grimace sarcastically.
“I think you have to click that unfollow button,” he added. “Have a lovely day.
“For those that loved it – hey hey hey,” he laughed loudly. “Right, off to do some work.”
Back in December 2020, Kelvin sparked controversy for poking his wife with the novelty toy as she drove.
In the clip, the soap star was seen playing Commodores classic Easy as he started prodding Liz with the glove on a stick as they walked down a street.
He then continued his antics as she drove the family car, where daughter Marnie could also be seen.
At the time, road safety charity Brake said: “Even a moment’s distraction from the road ahead can result in catastrophe.

“Passengers must do all they can to allow a driver’s concentration to remain on the road and certainly never purposefully cause a distraction.
“Such behaviour, as shown in this video, is selfish and dangerous,” the charity told the Sun.

Kelvin won Strictly back in 2019, when he lifted the Glitterball Trophy with dance partner Oti Mabuse.
Prior to that, Kelvin portrayed Andy Sugden in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale from 1996 until 2016.
Nowadays, Kelvin can be spotted with wife Liz and their young children on the BBC’s Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure.
The show follows the couple as they attempt to manage a 120-acre farm in the Peak District with zero farming experience.
Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 7.15pm on BBC One.
