Kevin Clifton hails Stacey Dooley an amazing mum while giving update on daughter

Kevin Clifton gushed over girlfriend Stacey Dooley as he labelled her an "amazing mum."

During an appearance on Monday's Good Morning Britain, the former Strictly Come Dancing professional, 40, opened up about his family life and his busy work schedule.

Speaking to show hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley, Kevin was full of praise for girlfriend Stacey, 36, as he said: "[Stacey] is amazing. I've been on tour in Aberdeen last week, come back just for the day on Sunday and spent the day with them, and I'm absolutely exhausted from it.

"Stace, she just carries on. It must be this motherly thing that just kicks in, I don't know, but I don't know how she does it. She's an amazing mum."

And talking about his and Stacey's daughter, Minnie, who they welcomed in January this year, Kevin added: "She's amazing, I just left her this morning. She's just at that stage where she's starting to laugh now. Doing anything, even just wobbling your head and going 'hiya', she starts to giggle."

It comes after Kevin was praised by friends and fans after opening up about some of the struggles he's had in recent years, as he admitted he wasn't always "doing so well."

Speaking candidly, the TV star shared a selection of snaps from the last several years, which he captioned: "Don’t like to talk about it too much in public but a few years ago I wasn’t always doin as well as I always tried to make out. Today I’m celebrating the most wonderful past 5 yrs."

The first snap showed Kevin, who previously opened up on his problems with alcohol before he gave up drinking in 2020, looking gaunt and greasy as he zoomed in on a selfie of himself with unkempt long hair.

The star's eyes were bloodshot and appeared to be watering as he posed for the camera.

He followed this with a number of photos of the last five years, which included some of him welcoming his baby daughter.

And in another Kevin shared a poignant note that read: "Just remember five years ago, you dreamed about where you are now."

Stacey was one of the first to give her support to her partner, as she gushed in the comments: "My angel. We love you endlessly."

In reply, Kevin then said sweetly: "love u and Mins," alongside a heart and mouse emoji to represent his "Minnie Mouse" daughter.

Fellow Strictly stars also shared their thoughts for the dancer, as head judge Shirley Ballas wrote: "Proud of you @keviclifton."

Kevin's sister Joanne Clifton said she was "proud" of him and Italian dancer Graziano di Prima said: "So proud of you my friend."
