Lil Tjay Released From Jail After Arrested for Second Time in Two Weeks
The Columbia Records artist, who was taken into custody on gun possession charges earlier this month, is finally let go from prison after his family posts the bail.
AceShowbiz –Lil Tjay got his freedom back. The “Calling My Phone” rapper, who was arrested for the second time in two weeks, was let go from prison after his family posted the bail.
Tjay’s attorney, Dawn Florio, revealed in a statement that the emcee’s recent arrest was not his fault. “Lil Tjay was not rearrested for another gun charge. He was excused from appearing in court last Friday by the arraignment Judge,” Florio said.
“Another Judge revoked his bond and put him back in jail for missing court on Friday even though he was told by the first Judge that he did not have appear. Lil Tjay’s family posted the bail yesterday and he is free,” the lawyer added. “It is so unfortunate that he had to be jailed for something that was not his fault.”
Tjay was previously arrested for gun possession on January 16. He was pulled over by cops on East 183rd Street in the Fordham Heights section of New York when driving with four other people.
Upon searching the vehicle, law enforcement officials found two loaded guns. It was unclear why police pulled him over and searched the vehicle in the first place. Tjay and one of his friends were subsequently taken into custody and are facing charges for an alleged weapons violation.
It was unveiled that Tjay was headed for the shooting of Ice Spice‘s music video when he was pulled over. Earlier that day, he confirmed his schedule as he posted on his Instagram Story, “Video shooot today lol it’s litt.”
The rhymer, born Tione Jayden Merritt, was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court on Wednesday and ordered to be held on a $90,000 bond and $30,000 cash bail. He was finally let go from jail after paying his bail.
