Machine Gun Kelly’s guitarist Sophie Lloyd is strongly denying speculation that she played any role in Kelly and his fiancée Megan Fox’s reported relationship issues. “Sophie Lloyd is a professional, accomplished musician who has been needlessly dragged into the media based off of meritless accusations made by social media,” her reps said in a Feb. 16 statement first shared by Page Six, per People. “Any suggestion that she has ever acted in an unprofessional manner or stepped out of her relationship are untrue. It’s disrespectful to her as a female artist and poor journalism and social commentary to be reporting anything else.” Reps for Lloyd did not immediately respond to POPSUGAR’s request for comment.
Rumors about Lloyd and Kelly first emerged when Fox posted a carousel of photos on her since-deleted Instagram account along with the lyrics, “I can taste the dishonesty/it’s all over your breath.” The lyrics come from Beyoncé’s “Lemonade,” an album famously about JAY-Z’s infidelity, sparking rumors that Kelly had cheated. In the selfies, a poster reading “When you can’t walk away” was visible behind Fox, and she also included a photo of a burning envelope at the end of the carousel.
One user commented, “Maybe he got with Sophie,” and Fox quickly responded, “Maybe I got with Sophie.” The following day, Fox deleted her Instagram account.
Shortly after Fox’s initial incendiary post sparked rumors that she and Kelly had broken up, a source told People that the pair had a serious fight at Drake’s Super Bowl party that weekend. Fox was apparently “very upset” with Kelly after the fight and wouldn’t “speak to him.” The pair apparently “haven’t officially called off the engagement,” according to the source, but Fox “took her ring off.” However, they were spotted out together the following day and then again on Valentine’s Day, per TMZ.
The pair first started dating in 2020 after meeting on the set of “Midnight in the Switchgrass.” They announced their engagement in January 2022. “In July of 2020 we sat under this banyan tree. We asked for magic,” Fox wrote in the caption beneath her engagement announcement. “We were oblivious to the pain we would face together in such a short, frenetic period of time . . . Somehow a year and a half later, having walked through hell together, and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him.”
