Marnie Simpson’s wedding is put on hold as she ‘struggles’ being a mum of two

After giving birth to a bouncing baby boy, Oax, in May this year, Marnie Simpson shared an adorable snap of the newborn clutching her finger and declared, "We’re completely in awe, our family is complete."

But the doting mum, who also has a two-year-old son, Rox, with fiancé Casey Johnson, has confessed to OK! that she’s struggling with the jump from caring for one young child to looking after two.

"I’ve got such an amazing bond with Oax because of how well the birth went," said Marnie, 30. "But at the moment, we’re going through a couple of complications."

The reality star, who took time out to chat to OK! ahead of the brand new series of Geordie Shore: The Reunion, explained, "He’s currently got colic, which is really tough to see. But I know that this stage always passes."

In the days that followed Oax’s birth, Marnie took to her Instagram Stories to gush over her new arrival, saying that she and dad Casey, 27, were "obsessed" with him.

Opening up about her labour, she went on, "What a different experience that was compared to the birth of Rox, which I’m very grateful for.

"I can’t wait to show you him, but I feel like me and Casey have chosen to just wait a little bit because we just want to enjoy him ourselves for a little while."

Back in 2020, Marnie described Rox’s birth as "horrific", revealing that she lost two pints of blood and contracted a rare bacterial infection.

She also struggled to bond with her baby son, telling OK! at the time, "Not only was I really ill, but I had just had a baby, so my emotions and hormones were all over the place as well. It was horrible.

"I was so depressed. No one could fix it or make me better. I was stuck in bed in so much pain and it just wasn’t getting any better."

Now, despite insisting she loves "being a mum of two", Marnie told us that Oax’s recent health issues – coupled with the pressure of caring for her two tots – has consumed the time she would otherwise have spent planning her wedding, meaning yet again her nuptials are on the back burner.

"It’s a struggle at the moment," said the star, who announced her engagement to former X Factor finalist Casey in August 2020. "But I’m really trying to enjoy the madness. I’ve got no intention of getting married anytime soon. I’ve got enough stress on my plate."
