Maura Higgins feuds with top designer who ‘left her alone for 3 hours’
Maura Higgins has become embroiled in a feud with a major fashion designer after he allegedly designed her an "inappropriate" dress for this week's British Fashion Awards.
While her fellow celebrities hit the red carpet in their gorgeous gowns and unusual get-ups, 32 year old Maura was missing from the bash after a clash with former creative director at Mulberry, Scott Henshall.
According to reports, Scott, 47, "left [Maura] alone for three hours", after giving the budding starlet an "inappropriate" dress to wear for the event.
“BFA tonight . . . first time to have zero control on my outfit . . . excited to see what @scott_henshall has designed for me," Maura told her fans earlier on in the day, only to pull out hours later because she wasn't happy with the design.
The custom-made gown was made out of a gold chrome fabric that showed off the star's bronzed tan, and the v-style plunge down to her navel highlighted the brunette's figure.
But Maura thought the outfit was too revealing for such a prestigious event.
“So obviously you can see I am fully ready," she told her fans on Monday 5 December.
“Glam team are on point as usual. Basically . . . the dress, the shoes, everything wasn’t something I’d wear.
“I don’t really know what to say, it’s like, I just feel it’s not very appropriate for the Fashion Awards," the star added.
Meanwhile, a source told The Sun that Maura had an unfortunate time after Scott chose to prioritise Lady Victoria, whom he was also dressing, over her.
“Scott was dressing Maura, Victoria and model Talulah Eve," the source claimed. “Maura’s gown was meant to resemble Paris Hilton's chainmail dress from 2002.
“Ultimately, it looked nothing like it and she wasn’t happy."
OK! has contacted a representative for Maura for further comment on the developing situation.
“It was mortifying. Poor Maura was so patient and she ended up being totally stood up," the source continued. "To add insult to injury, Victoria ended up leaving with a bag which was meant to be for Maura. It was a mess.
“Scott’s team have repeatedly apologised to Maura but the damage is done. It was a nightmare.”
The source went on to claim the designer was supposed to be organising a selection of shoes for the reality favourite to choose from too, but failed to do so.
It comes as Lady Victoria, 46, who was also reported to have been a "diva" by refusing to take pictures with the other ladies Scott was dressing, has slammed the claims surrounding Maura's experience.
"What Maura is saying is not true at all. Scott didn't ignore her," the socialite told MailOnline.
She claimed that Maura had her "own" glam team in her hotel rom, and heard the TV beauty "liked" her dress before a dispute over shoes chosen by a member of his own team.
"Scott was mad because he did not like the ones the PR chose," Lady Victoria said. "It's absolutely not true to say that Scott left Maura for three hours.
"He is a professional and the weakness is unfortunately in his PR team. Maura wanted to get her own makeup and hair team in her room," the star added.
