Meek Mill Pays Heartfelt Tribute to PnB Rock During Homecoming Concert
While performing onstage, the ‘Going Bad’ hitmaker also recalls a previous performance alongside the late 30-year-old Philadelphia rapper following his tragic death.
AceShowbiz –Meek Mill is remembering his pal PnB Rock. The “Going Bad” hitmaker paid tribute to the late Philadelphia hip-hop artist during a recent homecoming concert at Bowie State University.
Footage of Meek’s performance surfaced on social media over the weekend. In the clip, the 35-year-old could be seen taking a few moments on stage to speak about the “Selfish” rapper, who was shot and killed in Los Angeles last month.
“Hold up, this is where I want to represent for my f**king dawg,” said Meek. The Roc Nation artist continued telling the crowd, “Rest in peace to f**king PnB Rock, I don’t even want to talk about that s**t.”
Meek also recalled a previous performance alongside PnB. “The last time I performed at a college, it was in the DMV with PnB Rock,” he shared. “Rest in peace to my mothaf**king brother.” Later, he jumped into his “Dangerous” track featuring the late rapper and Jeremih. The song is included on Meek’s 2018 “Championships” album.
Meek was one of the first artists to pay tribute to PnB when news of his tragic death, and a disturbing video of him laying on the ground in a pool of his own blood, began circulating. “Rip dawg you didn’t deserve that,” he tweeted at the time. “Every time I see one of my friends bleed out on camera or killed on camera, I feel a sick feeling I can’t even really explain… it puts me more and more back in survival mentality.”
Meek also mourned PnB’s passing on Instagram, uploading a photo of the two of them hanging out soundtracked by PnB’s “Too Many Years” collaboration with Kodak Black. “S**t burnnnneedd my soul bad today,” he captioned the post.
PnB’s murder took place on September 12 during what appeared to have been an attempted robbery when a masked man entered the Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles restaurant at the same time he was enjoying a meal with his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang. Police said the gunman exchanged some words with PnB in the moments leading up to the shooting. The killer also demanded property from Stephanie before fleeing to the getaway vehicle.
As for now, three people had been arrested and charged with the crime, including a 17-year-old who was reportedly named as the shooter. His father, Freddie Lee Trone, and stepmother, Shauntel Trone, have been designated as accomplices to the crime and its cover-up. Currently, police are seeking the fourth suspect.
