My Name Is Earl actor unrecognisable as he shows off incredible weight loss

Ethan Suplee, 46, was sure to leave fans shocked as he posted a picture on Instagram of himself in the 2001 film Blow, at his heaviest, along with a recent gym picture.

He wrote in view of his 595,000 followers: “Once upon a time, the whole world was an impossibility. Conquering all of it is still impossible, so I’m just concentrating on today.

“If today becomes too much, I will focus on right now. Right now, I’m ok, I will beat right now.”

In the second image the My Name Is Earl star could be seen in the middle of a workout session, showing off his extra muscular physique, looking unrecognisable to his previous self.

Not long after appearing in My Name Is Earl from 1005 to 2009, Suplee made the decision to lose weight, showcasing his incredible 200lb weight loss at the premiere of Unstoppable in 2010.

He told Entertainment Weekly in 2017: “After My Name Is Earl, I started obsessively riding bicycles.

“I actually did get properly thin at one point — I was nine per cent body fat. But I was also riding a bicycle six to eight hours a day, six days.

“After two years of that, my wife said, ‘Hey, idiot, you can’t retire and ride bicycles. You have to go get a job’.”

However, due to his weight loss, casting directors didn’t recognise him and he struggled to get bookings.

Trying to change this, Suplee started bulking up in the gym, as well as using his social media platform to share motivational quotes.

He also discusses his “journey from obese to svelte” to muscular on the podcast American Glutton.

After losing weight, Suplee had two major surgeries to get rid of his excess skin, calling the process “brutal”.

In the first episode of his podcast, the actor opened up about his fitness journey and his complicated relationship with food and binge eating.

Suplee admitted that he always thought the food was something that people didn’t want him to have, so if he wanted more of it, he needed to do it privately.

This resulted in him forming a habit of withholding his food habits from his nearest and dearest.

He explained: “I realized later in life that much of my binge eating came on my own. When I was a teenager I would go out to a nightclub with my friends and never really felt comfortable eating in front of people, but on my way home I’d always find a 24-hour drive-through and eat three whole meals right before bed.”

Suplee first earned success in the 90s and early 2000s for his roles as Frankie Stechino in Boy Meets World and then Randy Hickey in My Name Is Earl.

He also played new teammate Louie Lastik in Remember The Titans.
