Nadine Coyle supports Cheryl at West End play after being ‘too scared’ to attend press night
Nadine Coyle has finally shown up to support her friend and former Girls Aloud bandmate Cheryl, 39, in her West End play 2:22 A Ghost Story.
Fans have noticed for weeks that Nadine still hadn't appeared to get tickets to the popular horror story, a theatre production that has showcased mum-of-one Cheryl's acting talents.
Many wondered if the 37 year old Irish singer was even making a pointed snub at her former Geordie bandmate.
Cheryl's fellow Girls Aloud bandmates Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, who said she was a "proud mother" after mentoring her friend, turned up to support her in the audience during the press night, but Nadine was noticeably absent.
As the singer watched her close pal in the audience this week instead, it was revealed that she was simply "too scared" to go at first, and couldn't bring herself to attend originally.
"It’s a shame Nadine isn’t here," fellow West End actress Kimberley, who starred in Christmas favourite Elf on Tottenham Court Road, told The Mirror during the launch.
"She was supposed to be coming," she continued, but added that Nadine "really doesn’t like anything scary".
A theatre source then told the publication that Nadine was expected to be sat "on the second row between Kimberley and Nicola".
The insider added that the Girls Aloud ladies had "planned to show up as a group to support Cheryl".
Instead, Nadine reportedly sent a good luck message to her long-time pal, and now we know she also rearranged to go and watch the show herself too.
The star posted a snap of her waiting to go inside the Lyric Theatre in London on her Instagram stories ahead of Tuesday night's production.
She also shared a clip of herself in the taxi on her way to the play, as she joked she was multitasking putting on lipgloss during the bumpy ride.
Girls Aloud reunited, albeit in heartbreaking circumstances, to pay tribute to their late bandmate Sarah Harding in 2022.
The girls were determined to give their lost friend, who sadly died from breast cancer in September 2021, a terrific send-off with a charity gala named the Primrose Ball.
The event was designed to raise money for the charities close to Sarah's heart, and it gave the rest of the band a chance to team up and get close once more, but Cheryl opened up on how difficult the whole venture had been.
Taking to Instagram, the star reflected: "After an intensely emotional (& quite stressful) year of planning & organisation we managed to fulfil our last promise to Sarah.
"None of us can fight this awful disease by ourselves but by coming together, leaning on each other and fighting side by side we can surely try.
"We are deeply grateful and touched by each person that helped in our endeavour and are incredibly proud to say we have reached our target goal, making us able to fund the entire study!!
"And also help in other ways for those currently suffering through harsh treatments," Cheryl added, going on to thank all the contributors and host Fearne Cotton.
