The movie however has been dogged by several dramas, including claims Olivia has an ongoing feud with lead role Florence Pugh, while the Venice Film Festival premiere raised eyebrows after it was claimed Harry spat on Chris Pine in the auditorium.
On Wednesday director Olivia set the record straight about her boyfriend and Don’t Worry Darling co-star Harry supposedly spitting on Chris.
Video surfaced earlier this month of the Don’t Worry Darling cast taking their seats before the world premiere screening at the Venice Film Festival, when some surmised from Pine’s reaction to Styles taking his seat next to Pine, that Styles spit on Pine.

Both Styles and Pine’s reps denied the incident took place – with Styles even joking about it at a concert – with Wilde confirming on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert that the incident now known as ‘spitgate’ simply did not happen.
She was discussing the ‘weird rumors’ that were swirling around the production, when she mentioned, ‘spitgate,’ joking, ‘which you might have heard of.’
Colbert referred to his notes, which included the question, ‘Did Harry Styles spit on Chris Pine? Why or why not? Support your answer.’
Good seats: Elsewhere Drew Barrymore was spotted in the audience right at the front as she got ready to watch Harry’s last show
A laughing Wilde said, ‘He did not, but I think it’s a perfect example of people will look for drama anywhere they can.’
She definitively added, ‘Harry did not spit on Chris, in fact,’ while Colbert joked, ‘Only time will tell.’
‘No, he really didn’t!’ Wilde said with a laugh.
The supposed ‘spitgate’ was just one of many controversies surrounding the film, which started with a report this summer from the New York Post that Florence and Wilde clashed on the set.

‘I can tell you for a fact that Flo seeing Olivia and Harry all over each other on set did not go down well as Olivia was still with Jason when she first hooked up with Harry,’ an insider said in late July.
Pugh’s lack of promotion for the film has continued to fuel those rumors.
She skipped the press conference for the film at the Venice Film Festival but she did arrive for the photocall and the premiere screening, though he left shortly thereafter to get back to work on Dune Part 2.

Flamboyant: In the front row was Gayle who wore a bright green shirt and a colourful boa
Pugh has since skipped the New York City premiere screening earlier this week, where Styles made headlines for hugging a fan in a wheelchair.
Responding to claims of a feud on the chat show Olivia said: ‘I have nothing but respect for Florence’s talent. She’s fantastic. She’s on the set of her movie Dune right now. There’s nothing cooler than a busy actress. I have nothing against her for any reason.’
‘She is sensational in this film. And it is about her being brave enough to listen to the brave people who’ve come before her who everyone else has ignored and trust her instincts,’ Olivia said.

‘And she is the one brave enough to dismantle the system. She is a super hero. And Florence Pugh is as good at dramatic work as she is at action. There are real action sequences sequences in the film. She has a run which I refer to as her ‘Tom Cruise run.’ It’s the most impressive run I’ve ever seen,’ she added.
