He recalled feeling particularly ’embarrassed’ on one occasion when a woman at a hen party told him she had taken a picture of his manhood, but added that these fans are ‘luckily the anomaly’.
He told the magazine that she blurted out upon meeting him: ‘I didn’t think the show was any good but I saw your willy and I have a photo!’
He added: ‘I remember that was the first time that I was really angry, I was like, “That’s f***ing rude!”
‘It’s embarrassing for you, it’s embarrassing for me, it’s embarrassing for my friends and now I have to say no to you, but luckily they are the anomaly.’

Paul said that although most fans are ‘really nice’, he has also had encounters with ‘drunk men’ who say their girlfriend liked Normal People, due to feeling ‘ashamed’ that they enjoyed the show.
Elsewhere in the interview, Paul also reflected on how he finds it difficult in filming to cry on demand, admitting that once he starts tearing up, he can’t stop.
The Aftersun star spoke of the challenges of conjuring up emotion for his roles and said he pre-warns his crew to keep rolling once he starts crying, as he can’t do it again once he has stopped.
His comments came as he posed up a storm in a sensational cover shoot for GQ, which saw him flash his abs in a sheer black top and dark trousers in one shot.

It comes after Paul revealed he might ‘rue the day’ he decided to quit social media but doesn’t think it’s ‘useful for people’.
The actor, who soared to fame as Connell Waldron, made the decision to deactivate his accounts in 2021 after finding fame overnight and now only has a secret, private Instagram account.

He told The Guardian: ‘I just don’t think it’s particularly useful for people to see, like, literally you,’ while making a box shape of his hands and framing his face.
Paul continued: ‘I thought it’s either get off the bus now or stay on it, and I wanted to get off. In 10 years I might rue the day I threw out my social media, but look, it just is what it is.’
A source told The Sun at the time: ‘Paul deactivated his Instagram account because it just became a drain. He felt like he was wasting time on there, reading the comments is no good for anyone’s mental health.
‘There are more important things going on in his life and he wants to focus his energy into his personal life and his work, he doesn’t need social media for that. He’s a private guy and doesn’t feel the need to share everything online.’
