Pete Davidson officially charged with reckless driving

Pete Davidson must complete 50 hours of community service and 12 hours of traffic school to avoid criminal offense on his record following reckless driving charge

Pete Davidson must now complete 50 hours of community service and 12 hours of traffic school in order to avoid a criminal offense on his record following his reckless driving charge.

Davidson, 29, was charged with reckless driving in June after he crashed his Mercedes into a home in Beverly Hills in March.

Now, TMZ reports the comic was able to avoid entering a guilty or no contest plea after he entered a diversion program last week. Davidson must now fulfill the program’s requirements within the next 18 months to avoid the offense.

Though the incident occurred in California, Davidson will be allowed to complete the community service in New York.

TMZ reports Davidson can complete the requirements at the New York City Fire Department – the same place where his late father, Scott Davidson, also worked at.

Davidson’s father was a firefighter who died in the World Trade Center on 9/11 when the comedian and actor was just seven years old.

The Bupkis actor must also visit a morgue where he will receive education on what happens to the victims of reckless drivers.

Once all the requirements have been achieved, Pete will be able to avoid having a criminal offense on his record.

The Saturday Night Live star was charged with one count of reckless driving by the L.A. Country District Attorney’s Office back in June, TMZ reported.

Davidson was driving the vehicle through the Flats neighborhood of Beverley Hills on Saturday March 4  around 11pm at ‘high speed’ when he lost control of the car.

His girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders was also in the vehicle.

The Mercedes jumped the curb and hit a fire hydrant before it crashed into the side of a nearby house, law enforcement said.

The home had to subsequently be completely demolished due to the crash impact and the homes foundation was taken down to ground zero, pictures have revealed.

Police said at the time that drugs and alcohol were not a factor in the crash.

Photographs showed Davidson’s damaged Mercedes following the crash, with its hood, windscreen and bumper smashed in due to the force of the collision.

The crash occurred hours after Davidson had presented the Kids’ Choice Awards in LA on Saturday night.

Earlier that day, the couple had lounged on a beach in Hawaii before flying back to the mainland for the ceremony.

Incredibly, no one was injured either inside or outside of the home, but the police were called to the scene and an investigation is now ongoing.

The crash occurred after a tiring day for the pair. Earlier Davidson and Sui Wonders had been photographed enjoying the beach in Hawaii on Saturday, returning to Los Angeles shortly afterwards.

Following a five hour flight from Hawaii back to LA,  Davidson later presented at the Kids’ Choice Awards that night.

Former Saturday Night Live cast member, Davidson, has dated several women, including supermodel Emily Ratajkowski, since breaking up with Kim Kardashian, 42, in August after nine months together.

Davidson and Sui Wonders met when they worked as love interests on the horror/comedy film Bodies Bodies Bodies in 2021.

The well-received whodunit about a group of wealthy 20-somethings planning a hurricane party at a mansion that turns deadly, received an 85-percent score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes. The audience score, 69-percent, was not quite as generous.

Last month, Davidson checked into rehab amid an ongoing battle with Borderline Personality Disorder and PTSD. It came just weeks after he left charity PETA an expletive-laden voicemail.

Davidson, who has spoken openly about his mental health issues, entered the facility to take a ‘mental break’, DailyMail.com confirmed.

His girlfriend Chase is understood to be standing by him.

One friend told Page Six: ‘Pete regularly goes to rehab for tune ups and to take a mental break, so that’s what’s happening.

A close source added: ‘Anyone who knows Pete knows that he will always step up and get help when he knows he needs it.

‘He has a lot of people in his corner who love him and support him, and are proud of him.’

‘He’s taking a well deserved break so he can focus on himself and learn to better deal with his PTSD issues.’
