Phillip Schofield releases shock statement in bid to save Holly Willoughby friendship
Phillip Schofield has spoken out about his reported "feud" with This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby.
The TV presenter has shared a statement as he claimed it had been a difficult "few weeks".
The star, who recently returned to the daytime TV show after an extended period of absence, has seemingly released the statement in a bid to mend his broken friendship and working relationship with Holly, 42.
“The last few weeks haven’t been easy for either of us," the 61 year old told The Sun.
Earlier today (Thursday 11 May), reports emerged that things weren't "rosy" between Phillip and Holly anymore, and they are no longer "as close" as they once were.
A source told The Sun: "Holly adores This Morning and for the first time in 14 years she has made it clear that should Phil ever leave she would want to stay. They are separate entities. It has become an open secret that things aren't as rosy as they once were."
"To those around them on set, it has become clear recently that Holly and Phil are not as close as they once were.
"Professionally you would have no idea there was anything going on because on camera they are acting exactly the same, but behind the scenes their relationship has cooled."
It comes as body language expert Judi James compared Phillip's behaviour on This Morning with Holly today to Prince Harry's when he's around the Royal Family now.
Only hours after it was revealed that Phillip and Holly, once best friends and co-stars for over two decades, have suffered a rift behind the camera, Judi shared her thoughts on what appeared to be lingering bad blood between the pair.
In an interview with the MailOnline, the author offered her thoughts on Phil's body language seeming "like Harry at the Coronation".
She said: "Phil adopted a jaunty, almost cocky air, using some overkill rituals and facial expressions and some status-and-power splaying to suggest resilience and defiance."
The body language expert also suggested that mum-of-three Holly appeared to be "less comfortable" than she usually did co-hosting on the show.
Judi also said she thought the star was using "barrier rituals to suggest a cut-off from Phil".
The star added that she thought Phil and Holly's "normal synchronicity" appeared to be "falling apart" during their presenting, and noticed "snappish verbal banter" between them.
She also thought Phil was delivering more sarcastic comments than usual, which she claimed could come from a "desire to either stand his ground or fight back".
