Prince Harry praises Meghan as he reveals she ‘saved’ him: ‘I’m eternally grateful’

Prince Harry heaped praise on his wife Meghan Markle on Saturday as he sat down for an intimate discussion with trauma expert Dr Gabor Maté.

The Duke of Sussex, 38, and Dr Gabor Maté's conversation about "living with loss and personal healing" was streamed live on Saturday 4 March.

During the chat, Harry spoke about his best-selling memoir Spare, which was released in January, as well as his experiences with the Royal Family and relationship with wife Meghan, 41.

He claimed Meghan "saved" him and sweetly branded her an "exceptional human being" as he opened up to the renowned speaker and author.

"My wife saved me. I was stuck in this world, and she was from a different world and helped draw me out of that," the dad-of-two stated.

"But none of the elements of my life now would have been possible without me seeing it for myself."

Harry continued, adding: "My partner is an exceptional human being and I'm eternally grateful for the wisdom and the space that she has been able to give me."

He met Meghan in 2016 and they went on to tie the knot in 2018. The pair stepped away from Royal life in March 2020 and relocated to California, where they now live with their two young children, Archie, three, and one year old Lilibet.

Prince Harry also spoke about his autobiography during Saturday's livestream event, and revealed he felt "incredibly free" once it had finally been released on 10 January.

"Once the book came out, I felt incredibly free. I felt a huge weight off my shoulders. But the system, I guess which to some extent I am still part of, doesn't encourage free living," the 38 year old explained.

He added: "A lot of families are complicated and are dysfunctional but for me, when I was doing therapy regularly – once every other week – I suddenly realised that I had learned a new language.

"The people I was surrounded by didn't speak that language, so I actually felt more pushed aside."

Spare landed on shelves in 10 January and has gone on to become the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time.

In his autobiography, Harry opened up about everything from his childhood and the death of his mother Princess Diana to his and Meghan's romance and their decision to walk away from Royal life.
