Raquel Welch's Cause Of Death & Secret Health Battle Revealed
We now know what specifically led to Raquel Welch‘s tragic passing back in February.
Of course, as we reported at the time, the film icon died the day after Valentine’s Day at her home in Los Angeles. Her family later revealed she had perished after battling what was described as “a brief illness.” Now, details have been released about what specifically led to her sad end.
According to TMZ, the entertainment industry icon suffered cardiac arrest which led to her death back on February 15. Cardiac arrest is nearly always fatal when suffered outside of a hospital, with most deaths occurring in just minutes, according to the National Institutes of Health.
The death certificate released in her case also names Alzheimer’s disease as “one of the underlying causes of her death.” Neither the actress nor her family had ever publicly acknowledged she was afflicted by that disease prior to her loss. As we’ve noted, she was 82 years old when she passed.
The official time of death listed on her certificate was 2:25 am local time in Los Angeles. Her body has since been cremated.
Of course, her passing comes after a six-decade run in the entertainment industry. Welch was thrust into worldwide fame in the 1960s following memorable starring roles in films like One Million Years BC and Fantastic Voyage. She then stayed in the spotlight for decades, appearing in everything from 1970’s Myra Breckenridge, to 2001’s Legally Blonde, to an infamous guest starring appearance on the 90s sitcom Seinfeld.
We continue to send our condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones during this unfortunate time.
