Rihanna’s back! Fans express joy as singer confirms she’s headlining Super Bowl
Rihanna has announced that she will be headline the Super Bowl Halftime Show in 2023.
The singer, 34, took to Instagram to confirm the news after months of speculation, sharing a simple snap of her holding an American football with no caption.
Roc Nation, the NFL and Apple Music, the new halftime show sponsor, also shared the news and confirmed that Rihanna will be performing at State Farm Stadium next year.
It will mark the first time Rihanna has performed live for five years, with the last time she took to the stage being in 2018 at the Grammy Awards with DJ Khaled and Bryson Tiller.
It comes as no surprise that Rihanna's fans are overjoyed by the news with many taking to social media to share their excitement.
"rihanna is the IDEAL superbowl performer, the catalogue of hits is crazy," one person tweeted. A second added: "RIHANNA IS BACK," as another wrote: "rihanna finally is back. a historic day".
"rihanna super bowl performance is going to be INSANE," a fourth excited fan said.
Others were sure that the news means Rihanna has been working on new music, with one person saying: "I feel like Rihanna is about to drop the hottest new album of all time before the Super Bowl half time show."

The star's fanbase has been patiently waiting for a new album for years now, and back in February she did confirm that she's working on new tracks.
"Well, yes. You’re still going to get music from me," the mum-of-one said on Entertainment Tonight.
Rihanna has been focusing on her fashion and beauty empire over recent years, having launched her own make-up brand Fenty and more recently, Fenty Skin.
She also welcomed her first child back in May with long-term beau A$AP Rocky, 33, with reports claiming the singer gave birth to a baby boy.
The couple, who were friends for a number of years before they started dating, have been spotted a handful of times following the birth of their son.
Most recently, A$AP and Rihanna were seen out and about in New York City as they headed to a Manhattan Dentist together.
